I don't think you necessarily need to be in the same division to be rivals.. See: Colorado and Detroit

Roughriders. I mean it's time isn't it? That another sport took up the name? Easy name to hate from a CGY perspective too! BOOM! Instant rivalry.

That's bad news for the Flames re the 2021 start date, they were well positioned for a 2020 expansion draft from what I could see with Valimaki protected and Brodie and Hamonic on expiring deals that could have slipped through.

Definitely going to lose a good defenceman or pay dearly not to in 2021.

I think I would move Calgary and Edmonton to the central, add Seattle and move Colorado to the Pacific.

Calgary
Chicago
Dallas
Edmonton
Minnesota
Nashville
St. Louis
Winnipeg

Anaheim
Arizona
Colorado
Los Angeles
San Jose
Seattle
Vancouver
Vegas

If only for the earlier start times. I love me some 5 and 6 o'clock hockey.

I was talking to an Avs fan about that recently, and he said that rivalry has pretty much fizzled into NBC marketing at best.

Not much more to a Avs v Detroit game anymore

Based on SureLoss's post regarding color scheme I'd be 1000% more inclined to side with him rather than Mr.Lids @ MarketMall.

Besides, if random kid working the hat store knew the gear was ready to go you'd think there would have already been a massive leak by now...

But honest to god the way the kid was talking to me it was like I was an idiot for not knowing

Yeah, but they moving to the central and its PHX. They have a new jersey it seems every few years.

Plus their's is more maroon. Using the colour codes:

PHX RGB (137,34,37)
CGY RGB (212,38,4)

Spoiler!

Seattle Cascades sounds good to me. (might have to buy name from an Ultimate team, and a drum corps).

Stratovolcanos is too long.

Impossible to predict the expansion draft from a Sabres perspective -- we only have 4 players signed for that season, two who will definitely be protected (Eichel and Ristolainen) and two who would be good expansion bait (Okposo and Berglund). Dahlin will be on an extension by then, and Reinhart too. Beyond that...?

Gotta think Ullmark will be your goalie. He's been great hasn't he?
