Default Sling Box issue

My son and I have set up my new Sling Box and I am able to use it to view my TV, but only in my house (within range of my wireless network). I have tried to use it in another location and it doesn't work. I get this error message:

the connection attempt failed. Make sure the Sling Box you are trying to watch is on, set up for remote viewing and not blocked by firewall/NAT settings. Error: 0x8007274C.

I'll check with the techie to find out if there is a firewall that could be interfering, but until them does anyone have any ideas for me? I want to use this thing remotely and am thinking of asking the Geek Squad from Best Buy to come in to fix this thing for me. I'm not a techie at all and my son doesn't know what to do beyond this.

Any advice? Would the Geek Squad be able to fix this for me?

I think that's the key there. Do you have a router? Was there anything in the slingbox instructions regarding ports that needed to be opened?

I'm assuming you already tried to google the problem, but in case you didn't...

That's a pretty common error message, I get it sometimes but then try again later and everything is working fine for me.

I don't know anything about setting it up, my dad did that.
