Xbox 360 price drop of $50

The Best Buy and Future Shop flyers both show the Xbox 360 with a price drop of $50 for the Pro and Elite. That's $350 and $450, respectively. This may be Canada only cause of our dollar. The pricing brings it to par with US pricing.

It could also be that since HDDVD is dead, they are concerned that this "benefit" of the 360 is now gone and their concerned about a surge in PS3 sales.

Not in terms of overall sales. They have been outselling the 360 the past 6-7 weeks though.

certainly not . . . they're making up a very small amount of ground. The ps3 could catch up, but it could take years.

Price drops are great for all gamers. The close race of this console war has been great for consumers in my opinion. Hopefully Sony will be forced to make the next move and drop their prices further.

Sony are lucky little buggers, I still think PS3 will struggle to keep up but the Blu-ray is helping..when I look back I think I would've been much smarter to go with PS3 as the games I play most are across both platforms and with my HDtv I could really use a Blu-ray player without the $500 price tag.

Looks like the Xbox 360 Arcade version is dropping in price also by $20 to $279 to bring all the 360 prices on par with US pricing.

Frig the elite is such a rip off.. I want one but I cant justify $450 for a negligibly better xbox than my 1st gen 360..

Yeah, the PS3 outsold the 360 in one month, but at the current rate of sales it has a long way to go before total PS3 sales overtake total 360 sales (at least in North America -- PS3 is obviously beating the Xbox in Japan). Based on projections I've seen, if the PS3 even overtakes the 360 at all (which might not even happen), it will only be in 3-4 years time, and by then nobody will care because we'll all be thinking about the next generation systems. It's very unlikely that this console generation will have a far-and-away winner like the PS2 was last time.

The strangest thing to me is that the PS2 almost sold as much as the PS3....over 250,000? That seems really, really high to me. I mean, people are still buying the PS2 that much?

lol, actually in a lot of regions the ps2 sales numbers are only second to the wii. It's actually making boatloads of money for sony right now.
