Default Van hits multiple pedestrians in Toronto

https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/witnes...walk-1.3898118

Story developing . . . For those wondering, Yonge and Finch is not really downtown in the main area, closer to York.

A suspect has been arrested, but no word what kind of incident this yet, too early to know.

Seems like it was deliberate, also likely some fatalities with the orange tarps down in pictures of the scene. Really sad.

Live coverage now on CTV news. Apparently the driver of the van is in custody.

The fact that this is a rental van really raises the likelihood that this is an intentional attack IMO. Rental vans have been used in previous attacks, and in planning something like this, leaves one less piece of evidence behind than a normal car with a registered license place to a private individual. Plus it's an easy way to get access to a bigger vehicle that might otherwise be harder to acquire.

One of the eyewitnesses said the van looked very in control, and that it looked like the driver was deliberately trying to hit everything they could on the sidewalk.

The fact that he fled and didn't stop is also pretty telling this was intentional.

These attacks are becoming more and more common.

Here's hoping that we never hear his/her name. Deny this ####### the publicity.

My friends and I were talking about this "style" of attack and they are terrifying. There is really no defense, and it is so easy to pull off. I fear we will see more and more of them, the world over.

The fact it is a rental van basically seals the deal. Chances of a catastrophic loss of control in any vehicle are very remote, then looking at the probability it occurs in a rental van are approaching nil.

Hopefully # of impacted stays low....

Media won't give a **** what's better for preventing further tragedies, they'll just announce the name and talk about him in depth as soon as they possibly can to make money.

Not sure that personal notoriety is the end game so I'm not sure this matters. Obviously we don't know in this situation yet, but I'd say in most the goal is, I guess you could say, open protest or a type of war attack on an ideology. That will get out regardless.

Yeah the last thing i want media doing is censoring information. His name and his reasoning matter to people, that's why it is ever announced/printed. Its a significant news story and with that come details. Details are who/what/where/why etc.

Man there could be a lot of fatalities. Watching some of the witnesses talk about what they saw is hard to listen to, I feel terrible for everyone there. Brutal brutal stuff.
