I enjoyed it. Some of the jokes seems pretty niche for people with an interest or some background knowledge in startups. It'll be interesting to see if it pulls in an audience outside of that market.

If anyone is interested, you can view the first episode on YouTube:

Living here has given me some insight on this world, and while the situations and characters are exaggerated, the satire is pretty bang on with regards to the general mood and themes of the show. Just one episode in, so I'm sure there's time to screw it up, but I laughed a lot at that first episode.

I would recommend.

I liked it. Didn't blow my mind, but it was one of the better new HBO comedy series recently.

Should be entertaining for at least a while!

TJ Miller and the guy who played Big Head had me laughing. I'll be watching.

I really enjoyed it. I've never worked as a programmer nor lived in SV, but between what I've read and watched, things like social network etc., articles about the rise of power from Microsoft to Google and the culture especially companies like the latter try to instill, the satire seems pretty spot on.

This was an easy sell for me.

Mike Judge, Kumail Nanjiani, Martin Starr, and TJ Miller aka Ramo's double? Done and done.

Forgot about this thread. Best new comedy I've seen in years. TJ Miller just cracks me up and Mike Judge knows how to make quirky crazy worlds. Zach Woods cracks me up too, he was great in the later seasons of The Office and just as good here.

Christopher Evan Welch who played Peter Gregory died back in December during filming, he was diagnosed with Lung Cancer when he was called to say he got the role.

http://arts.nationalpost.com/2014/05...o-many-levels/

Quote:
“These people came up to me and said, ‘Peter Gregory is so great, what’re you going to do with him next season?’ ” Judge recalls over the phone from L.A. “When I told them (the actor) Chris Welch had died they got so sad.”

“It’s kind of stunning,” he adds. “People have become obsessed with that character.”

That feeling of shock and sadness for Welch’s passing will be familiar to anyone who has seen Silicon Valley. As angel investor Gregory, the Texas native was the most absorbing of the the ensemble comedy’s misfit characters, embodying the college-fearing tech guru with a balance of outlier quirkiness and humanity. “To me, seeing him read that character was one of the things that tipped the scales between, ‘Do I make this or not?’” Judge says of Welch’s performance. “It was so real and so much like these kind of people I’ve known in the engineering and programming tech world.”

"Why would you print all that out?"

'Gabe' is fantastic.

Just watched Sunday's episode. Loved it.

The random reference to the long defunct Japanese MMA promotion Pride Fighting Championship was great.

I have just watched three episodes and it's so great. Peter Gregory and the whole BK segment was hilarious. Obviously though, TJ Miller is the best on the show. Just a hilarious character. Great show all around really.

This show is a gem, I thought last weeks episode with 'the carver' was awesome. THis week, almost as good. Quickly rising through the ranks of my favorite comedies.

Funniest episode of the series last night.

I find I laugh the most at the realistic absurdity of it. Even though I've never worked in or around silicon valley and that industry, I feel the authenticity of it.

Funny show.
