Sean Couturier might just will this Flyers team out of the first round.

That is odd because that's their thing every playoffs. Unless the singer was sick or unavailable.

Looks like a classic high scoring Pens-Flyers game

Guentzel with 4 goals in a row to put Pittsburgh up 7-4. Unbelievable.

Defense and goaltending let them down big time. Pissed off giroux didn't get more face offs. He was ~59% this year -- literally one of the top 3 face off guys in the entire league. Career ~55%. He's officially the LW but he should be the one taking important face offs instead of filppula or couturier. Dunno if that was a coaching call or if his confidence was down after that one Crosby play. They gave up a lot of goals off lost face offs he could have prevented.

Flyers didn't deserve to win the series given the way they played games 1 3 4, but Very excited for the future of the flyers. Carter Hart should be a difference maker when he gets called up. Sanheim and Hagg should improve the backend. Morgan frost is a chl mvp candidate. Lots to like in the pipeline.

I feel really sorry for Couturier. He just had a 5 point game despite a torn MCL.

Flyers give up eight goals, lose.

Flyer fans: "Waaaaaah, referees dictated the outcome!"

To be fair, you rarely have a better case to whine over than the missed trip right before the Pens took the lead. Unbelievable that didn't get called.

That was the 6-4 goal, but yeah. They already had two third period PPs when down 5-4 of an elimination game - a time when officials are notorious for putting the whistles away - and lost by three. That missed penalty did not decide the outcome.

I know the bar is different now, but when I grew up playing hockey, if you played the puck and somebody fell over your stick, it was not a penalty.

For that matter, if a guy knocked the stick out of your hands, there would be no slashing call and your coach would tell you to hold your stick.

I found the non call refreshing. A nod to old school hockey and good old fashioned values.

Most likely not, and it definitely did not decide the series.

They let in 28 goals in 6 games. That has to be close to some kind of a modern record in goals allowed in a series.
