SN just mentioned that the Isles have offered 88 million over 8 years to Tavares.

That’s a good deal for Tavares. I hope he stays with the Isles. The Isles have a good thing going for them.

Yea making the playoffs 3 times in the last 10 years and hiring Lou the Dinosaur is a real good thing.

And just picked up Walhstrom and Dobson, Barzal becoming an all star, Leddy improving his play. They just lack maybe another good defenseman and a goalie. They're going the right direction now without Snow in charge.
Also, couldn't you say the same thing about the Flames? 3x playoffs in 10 years sucks.

So, there ya go.
To give Tavares the same money, other teams will have to offer him $12,571,428 over 7 years.
Then you have stupid teams who benefit from better local taxes. Dallas and Tampa namely, which are big reasons why Tampa was able to keep Stamkos, and Dallas was able to snag Bishop last off season.
Just don;t come out west unless it's to Calgary JT.

What about Frolik + a prospect for Coyle + Ennis ??
Not a top end prospect, someone like Klimchuk maybe?

I'd like Coyle too but what do we have left to give. And we have a lot of cap thats going to get eaten up in the next two seasons with not a lot coming off.

Ennis is a bit small for my liking, considering we have Mangiapane who deserves a look.
I like Coyle too.

Yeah, the idea there is that by taking on the final year of Ennis' contract (who is pretty close to being a buy out candidate) we would get Coyle for pennies on the dollar.

Ok, because Peters said the Flames asked him about his opinion on former players from Carolina and internationally in different trade scenarios this weekend; a list of players that played for Peters internationally that have had their names in trade rumors and speculation recently.
1. Tavares - pipe dream
2. RoR - Huge asking price if the reports of what the Sabres were asking for from the Habs are true. Literally everytime Peters has coached/assistant coached Team Canada, RoR has been on the team.
3. Parayko - could have been a d-man they targeting to replace Hamilton if the Hanifin/Lindholm deal didn't go through. Asking price also reportedly high, so probably no longer a priority.
4. Perry - Murray says he wants to shake up the team and Perry was asked for a list of teams he would go to, but bad contract, declining production, and full NMC.
5. Pageau - his name was out there at the trade deadline, but not so much in the offseason. Is he off the trade block in Ottawa?
6. someone off the radar? maybe someone nobody is talking about yet?

For reference:
Coyle (C/RW), shoots right, 26 year old, 6'3 221
16G+29A pace over his last 4 seasons
2 years at $3.2M, then he's a UFA
Niederreiter (RW), shoots left, 25 year old, 6'2 211
23G+22A pace over his last 4 seasons
4 years at $5.25M, then he's a UFA
Ennis - 1 year at $4.6M
Buyout would carry a cap hit of $2.17M this season and $1.22M next.

Tyler Ennis - Minnesota is trying to package him with one of Zucker, Coyle, and/or Niederietter as a salary dump
