Seth Macfarlane has improved as the straight man now he isn't just trying to copy Picard, but I do find his right eyelid somewhat distracting. It is very much not symmetrical with his left. And Talia is such an improvement over Alara, both the character and the actor.

Obviously Scott Grimes stole the whole show tonight. Simply outstanding, and Gordon is easily my favorite character.

I still like Alara because she's such a different character from Talia, who comes across as confident, experienced and a bullet catcher.

I guess in the future its ok for the ships helms man to shoot back a shot of whisky and the security chief to have a drink. I laughed at that more then a lot of other things.

The only effect that I didn't like was when Gordon left the shuttle, it just looked really terrible. But seconds later when they did the face shot as he was spinning out of control, that was a great shot.

My only complaint is this one fell into the Star Trek Trope of the Union being perfect. I think having Orn be innocent and the Union and Mercer having to choose between peace and an innocent individual would have made for a more interesting show.

I don't disagree with you on that at all. however I felt that there were two points to that.

You could see that Ed and Kelly were uncomfortable talking to the Admiral about the extradition. The argument between Ed and Gord really emphasized that with an almost Star Trek VI esque line, they're butchers and zealots, really reflected the Kirk line about the Klingons "Let them die"

They were probably worried that Sam Malone was going to hit on Kelly.

So that episode was basically Star Trek VI? Just like The Undiscovered Country is one of the best Trek films, the Orville version was one of its’ best episodes. I loved it!

Bortas smoking was hilarious.

Leighton Meester can guest star as often as she likes. I don’t just mean The Orville. That goes for anything on tv.

Reminded me of the episode Geordie fell in love with the Enterprise engineer.

Every time I see Scott Grimes, all I think about his role as Morris on ER. Great actor.

I was hoping Scott Grimes would bust out a song in his Steve from American Dad voice:

Scott Grimes was briefly in an episode of Next Generation as a friend of Wesley.

Leighton Meester is on my laminated list of five celebrities. Love her in Single Parents right now.

Line of the show: "sorry about the Dick Van Dyke thing..."
