His stickwork certainly is, but you are right. The kid will need to focus on skating soon.

But how many 11 year old hockey players have a personal coach to begin with? He's far ahead of the curve at this point.

His skating did not look bad at all.

Not too mention I've heard of NHLers who play some other sport and only start playing hockey as a preteen or later in life. Like Nurse, who goes 6thOA. So this kid certainly has a chance

I didn't mean his skating was bad, but certainly if he wants to be an exceptional pro, he needs more than just exceptional puck skills.

As I said, he's still miles ahead of the curve.

Hopefully the coach will show him how to use his teammates as he progresses, just to make sure he doesn't "McDavid' his career

Can already see that he's going to be demanding 8x8 as an RFA because that's where the bar will be set. Do not want.

Aito Iguchi played in 3 "elite" Canadian tournaments this past summer.

He was the scoring champion in 2 out of the 3 tournaments. Looks like he's WHL bound at some point.

To be honest, I don't think people were following Crosby, McDavid or whomever since they were 11 years old. If this continues to shine, he'll definitely be super hyped coming into a draft

Maybe not Crosby, but Gretzky was being covered by Toronto papers at age 10.

Weren't people following Johnny when he was 8 or whenever that video came out?

Yeah, growing up in southern Ontario, Gretzky was known across hockey - my earliest memory was when he was 9 (but there may well have been coverage prior to that).

By peewee, arenas were often full to watch him play

Guaranteed with the internet he'd have been followed at age 6 when he was playing with kids 4 years older.
