Exactly, I turned off the radio when they said about Iggy taking Francis to Earl's for a 10% discount. Really surprising news. All the best. He is one of my favorite hosts.

That’s too bad, really enjoyed Rob. Glad he sounds genuinely excited for his next step, will be excited to find out what it is.

Always a classy guy. Enjoyed his conversations with Bettman a lot. Also '04 Overtime with Connie at 2 am or so. Hope he is well and takes the same passion and energy he always displayed in radio into his next venture!

Maybe The Athletic gets into podcasting and recruits broadcasters in the same way they poached writers?

Hard to envision an business model for that, but hey, what do I know.

He’s moving on to work with the Hitmen. Not exactly sure in what field.

I’ll miss him on the radio for sure. Always had an interesting and intelligent view of things.

Best of luck Rob

Wow - just listened to his signoff, which is up on the Fan 960's site. Didn't think I'd get that emotional over it. But I did. Sad day - Kerr had it all - could make me laugh, get pissed off, challenge me, whatever. He was part of my regular listening for many, many years.

And after all, he DID get to call a fight as PbP.

He was one of the better ones for sure. I felt like he was pretty thorough in his prep on a regular basis, on many issues.

Didn’t care for the “pump out the truth” shouting. That was a gear grinder. First world problems.

The fan got worse today. Best of luck to him

I always liked Kerr. Others have mentioned his great work during the 2004 run, but I think absolute peak Kerr was the Kerr-Boom afternoon show. Something about Kerr and Boomer together was really great. I also like them both separately, but together they were a perfect mix.

I often found myself disagreeing with him or whatever, but - unlike many others - I always respected him and I always had time for him. Rob Kerr is a pro and a great guy. Calgary has been lucky to have him. I hope that, whatever he is up to next, it is still here in Calgary.

Also...

Gotta think Pinder takes over the afternoon slot where Kerr was?

Rob is pretty much synonymous with the Fan, right back to the days with Joe Sports. He’s a great radio guy, best of luck to him.

You don't go from the morning show to afternoons. Steinberg will have it with Nault.

Good luck!
The show definitely lacked when Kerr was gone. Ryan Leslie is a good guy, but he's very amicable and Bryn Griffiths wasn't completely invested and always just agreed with whatever Steinberg's take was. Kerr at least knew how to dig deeper and present just enough friction into the conversation to get people invested.

Steinberg and Nault do not have those skills.

Perhaps that does open the door for Pinder to move to afternoons as he can certainly bring friction.

Regardless of what happens, I sincerely hope cheapo Sportsnet doesn't fill the gap by having Kirsch on the air than more than he already is. That's an abomination I was hoping would be eliminated before the upcoming season but I'm doubtful that happens now.

So Kerr finally got to broadcast live from a boat last week and then looking forward to more boat broadcasts to this sudden sign off?
I hope all is good for Rob Kerr.

No, they've been bleeding money ever since they won the NHL rights. Each off season they feel increasing pressure to save money. Each passing season will see more "parting ways" like these.

Mike Richards is looking for a steady gig and has recently gotten some airtime.

Just an observation.

A knowledgeable and intelligent hockey guy, and was really good at his job. I’ll definitely miss him in the afternoons, and wish him the best in his next move.

I could also see Pinder becoming the anchor guy in the afternoons.
