I am a big dummy because I was one of those fools who questioned his will to win when he started to slow down during the stretch. It couldn't have been more wrong, now knowing what he played through. He was PPG for half the season, on pace for 50. I'm fairly certain if he stayed healthy, he could have hit 40 goals and be PPG. Gaudreau might have even broken 100 points with a healthy centerman.
Super excited to see what he can do next season, especially with 2 legit top line wingers beside him. I don't doubt a healthy Monahan pots 40+.

Hey, it takes a real man to admit when they were wrong. I certainly don't think you were alone in your thinking. The great news for all of us is that we have a true competitor on our hands and we never really have to question his work ethic again.

Truth is none of us know what ailments these guys play through every game, nor do we really know what their mindset is from day to day and what their priorities are. Good news is that the guys wearing the other sweaters are going through the same things. Like you I sometimes jump to conclusions but I guess in the end, we're better off not always trying to guess the reasons behind disappointing performance.
Be it injuries, will to win, training regimen, off ice distractions or whatever, I too hope we see a peak Monahan for 82 games. He was the Flames best forward in their last playoff series.
I agree that fans really were in the dark in terms of understanding Monahan’s injuries.
But I’m not quite willing to give the same pass to the media. After several other media members started chattering about undisclosed injuries, Francis came out with the article blasting Monahan’s character. That wasn’t ok. Either he’s not connected enough to get those insider scoops, didn’t care enough to consider them, or simply wanted a controversial and inflammatory article. Based on his other body of work, it sure feels like all 3
