Was first out, by myself, at Radium (Springs). Finished in 2 hours and shot 76. Glorious way to play.

I played Capilano on Friday. I didn't have my best round but I made a couple birdies. The greens were super quick and tough to read. Because it's built on a mountain there are many times I was in the fairway with an uneven lie. I found those tough to adjust to.

Such a nice course but it really ruins it. My guess is they will only get worse as the season goes on unless it's a dry summer.

It is called "the canals", so I guess it makes sense.

Playing speargrass tomorrow for 1st time. Is that walkable? I'm not an alpine climber by any means but up for a decent stroll if it's sort of reasonable.

Thanks

Mandatory carts at Speargrass which are included in your green fees.

Speargrass will let you walk the front, but you need a cart for the back.

Is that something anyone would do? Seems a little weird and hassly to not just cart the whole thing, especially if the cart is included in the rate and you don't even get a discount for walking half.

Some people, myself included, want to walk. Sirocco, does the same thing. They have carts waiting at the halfway house for exactly this.

You still pay to ride 18, but have the option of walking if you so choose.

Oh okay, I actually like walking too, just didn't figure people would make the switch halfway through. I actually feel I play a little differently walking than carting (probably just a mental thing.....like the entire game of golf I guess, lol) but I feel I'd want to keep it consistent.

I am very much the same. I mostly walk the front and ride the back at Sirocco, the back 9 is just brutal to walk.

Buck a hole days have returned to the Nanton Golf Club. Every Thursday from 1:00PM till closing green fees are $18 (cart not included).

On Mondays you can play for $50 which includes a cart.

Played Heritage Pointe today.

Some members behind us called and complained that we were playing too slowly. Played the round in 4 hours.

Maybe next time don't play as a twosome on a Saturday afternoon??

Playing water valley in the morning.

It's a fine line. Not commenting on your group obviously, as I don't know, but in general slow play is fine as long as you can tell each player is walking at a decent pace to their ball and then slowing down to properly take a shot, not slowly doing both.

That's what really gets me. Like I get it, everyone played to play a relaxing game and don't want to be rushed, and for sure line up your shot and make every shot count or else why would you be paying expensive green fees, but at least show a little hustle in actually getting to your ball.

It's the guys where they dump the cart to go separate ways for balls and then stroll over like they're out for a Sunday morning nature walk that really slow things down.

Or if a group has even one guy that hits into grass/shrubs/trees consistently AND is determined to find the ball every time. Everyone deserves a chance to learn and get better and not get hassled too badly, but if you're learning there should be a cut off on ball finding time, imo.

You could have allowed them to play through. That is generally what we do when there is a twosome behind us.

The worst are the ones with their fishing poles. They stop at each water hole looking for balls they can retreive.

Then you have the ones that like to talk on their cell phones while playing.

Depends how backed up the course is. No point in letting a twosome go ahead if you'll be waiting behind them at the next hole for ten minutes. At that point everyone's waiting anyways and now you've made your own group wait even more.
