The Flames were better last game than the previous one. There's still a chance. Like anyone who has experienced nothing but abuse and failure for years, the conditioning means I find it hard to believe in any outcome other than more pain and failure at the hands of this team, but there's still a chance. GFG!

I understand the survival mechanism of expecting failure so you won’t be disappointed again. And then if we lose you get to say ‘I knew it’ and ‘I told you so’. But the game hasn’t been played yet! One of the teams playing is our team, the one we cheer for, the one we (in theory) WANT TO WIN! The negativity is killing me.
Go Flames! I love the Johnny hat trick/ 5-2 final prediction. Let’s re-write our narrative!

Hoping for a big win but expecting a whimpering and/or soul crushing loss. Sorry if that's overly negative for some of you but 30 years of disappointment has broken me I guess.

I'll be happy if I see genuine effort and consistency. The Stars are likely a better team on paper, so a loss isn't crushing. The lack of effort and consistency that seems to become too characteristic of this team, on the other hand, is just so difficult to watch sometimes. It seems to be characteristic of this team since last year's loss to Colorado.

lol damn, man. Soul crushing? It's just a game. Prop that head up and enjoy yourself!
Regardless of what happens tonight, there will still be Flames games tomorrow that we can all continue to enjoy, argue over, pick apart, celebrate, laugh at, etc. (not literally tomorrow, but figuratively, like in a few months or whatever).
Hope the Flames win, but if not, life goes on!

If they lose tonight, the only people it's sad for is them. Probably not even them.
Probably just for the kids in their Flames jammies.

Technically right.
But if they go out with a whimper and a piss poor effort, it'll be way worse than if they lose a hard fought battle with maximum effort.
Is it too much to ask that the group of millionaires who wear our preferred corporate logo give 100% effort?

lol, well maybe not that bad but I'm talking "get your hopes up, 12 seconds left in the game get scored on and lose in OT again" type of loss.
Mostly the get your hopes up element. Remember game 3 vs Anaheim a couple years ago? Up 4-1 with less than 21 minutes left? Yeah....
