The news about Jason Botchford's death is absolutely paralyzing. We worked together for a time on TSN's That's Hockey. Fascinating man and a positively unique voice. My heartfelt condolences to his family. He will be missed by us all.

I'm shocked and saddened. I listened to Botchford all the time on the TSN morning show here in Vancouver.

WTF??? That's way too young. RIP Jason. Truly, that's shocking. I didn't even realize he was that old. He seemed younger than that even.

Sobering to hear of someone in my age group passing away so suddenly. Puts things into perspective.

Agreed!... he seemed to be in his 30s, or so... great energy on the radio, I was always entertained by his ranting style... this sucks.

Really is scary... there had been no indication that anything was wrong. Nobody expected this.

The sadness is twofold. First, for his family and friends, who have undoubtedly lost someone so dear at such a young age. That must be the emptiest feeling. Wouldn't wish it on anyone. And second, for his devoted fanbase, which has lost a passionate journalist. I read Botch's work for The Athletic on a routine basis... it really was excellent. Now, it's gone, and he is, too.

This just sucks, sucks, sucks. Just devastating.

Absolutely devastating for his family, can't imagine what they are going through, condolences to them and everyone who knew him.

From just his work perspective, he was THE Canucks media guy the last 5-10 years at least, really connected with Canucks fans online, especially with the provies/athletties, and made following a team that has struggled the last 6 years interesting to read or listen about.

RIP Botch

Agreed. From what I have seen of him he looked like he was in decent shape. I feel great physically so it's disturbing to see a guy in the same age ballpark pass away suddenly like this. RIP.

Heart failure in very many cases has absolutely zero to do with the kind of shape you are in, and how you feel physically.

Consider the idea of a pump with plumbing and electrical. Some people have issues with the electrical that are not influenced whatsoever by what they choose to eat, drink or smoke, or whatever.

Take care of your bodies and minds folks.

Heart attack and stroke can hit anyone, and we all have to die one day, but you can damn well make sure it doesn't hit you for the obvious reasons, too soon.
