I have been in the re-sign Brodie camp all along.

But now I want a rebuild. So I don't want to commit $6M or so to Brodie, because I want the cap space for trades.

I accept that we are going to suck for a while, so no need for Brodie any more.

I didn't say the Flames can't afford to keep him. I said I'm not sure Treliving can get Brodie to stay.

Brodie had a rough patch for a couple of seasons but bounced back with a really nice season this year. I hope he gets a nice contract in a city that works for him that will set him and his family up for the future. He was a really good Flame and I wish him and his family all the best.

I would rather keep Brodie then Gio. At least Brodie showed up most of the series. But going by his aunt's comments...yeah seems like the writing is on the wall. A shame we won't get any assets for him. If by some miracle he decides to stay, I'm all for that. I think the team will miss him greatly. Either way I wish him the best. When he was on, he was dynamite to watch.

Brodie's departure is another reason I vote for a rebuild. The gap between Giordano/Brodie and the next pairing is too big right now (IMO) to be a contender.

She's not the first, and probably won't be the last. Most of the time you don't know it though, in her case she was up front about it.

But yeah, it would take some seriously thick skin to come here and read some of the stuff people write about your family member.

My hunch is that he might look to find a team out East and play there. With the current uncertainty though, and with the season delay, perhaps he might be open to a one year contract until things sort out. He would be hard to replace, but when the Flames gave Rasmus Anderson his deal, to go with the commitments to Giordano, and Hanifan it made Brodie's future in Calgary pretty unlikely. Outside of Florida, Carolina, and Arizona...teams don't carry 4 defenceman making more than 4.5 million a year. Most teams are in the 3 to 4 range for their 4th highest paid defencman.

Whatever happens, I hope it works out for him. He was a good player for the team. Wish they had drafted more guys who turned out like him.

Brodie has been outstanding since coming back from his scare. I would absolutely re-sign him. If only he’d be willing to sign a one year deal on bigger $$$ and then re-upping after the expansion draft.

As far as I know, I haven’t been put out to pasture as of yet, let alone ‘forever and ever.’ 😂🤣😂

I have no idea what TJ’s plans are. I just want him to get a good contract and keep playing great hockey. I have loved being a part of this group for ten years, and once again, I will be BBF no matter what team he plays for. Except Detroit maybe.. that would be tough 😉. All the same stuff I have been saying forever.
