The Oilers pretty much had their full lineup
https://winnipegsun.com/sports/hocke...to-face-oilers
Quote:
The only Jets line with extensive NHL experience is the trio of Adam Lowry between Andrew Copp and Brandon Tanev
On the back end, both Jacob Trouba and Josh Morrissey will see their first pre-season action.
Eric Comrie starts in goal for the Jets, who will play their final six pre-season games over an eight-day span.
|
So 3 NHL 3rd liners, 2 NHL Defensemen, and the rest AHL and down including the goalie, versus 95% of the Oilers full NHL lineup.
What's wrong with the Oilers and their fans (rhetorical question)? I could see them take on the Tim Hortons Timbits in an exhibition game and Staples would be the first to post an article about McDavid destroying the opposition and how the Stanley Cup should be given in September.

If you look at the ice time from the game, Winnipeg basically rolled their 4 lines and 3 d-pairings almost evenly except for PP and PK time. Not one Jets forward had more than 16 minutes of ice time. Meanwhile, McDavid had over 18 minutes of ice time and Draisaitl and Nugent-Hopkins were both over 17.
Oddly, Rattie had the least ice time of anyone in the game and he somehow got 5 points.

Shouldn’t the Oilers be more concerned that they gave up 3 goals to that Winnipeg roster?
And also, outside of the Oilers’ top line, the stat line looks mediocre at best.

No kidding. Last night was pretty much their main roster competing against the Jets 4th line playing as the top line and the rest of the forwards filled out with rookies and AHLer's. Can't wait to see them get crushed by a real NHL roster.
Edmonton is no good.

Exactly. That would've been my concern if I were the columnist. Playing a river hockey game against an AHL/B squad with your NHL team where you give up 3 is not good. Or as some might say, No Good.

Don't care, McDavid got 4 points. MVP! MVP! MVP! Art Ross! Why doesn't the NHL put up pre-season points leaders on their site? They are anti-Oilers!

No worries. The Oilers have got this covered.

You have to like Bjugstad shooting %. Sitting at 1 shot 2 goals. 200% isn't too shabby.

Ah yes! but we know how the logic will go. the oilers toyed with the Jets last night - the Jets will likely toy with the flames tonight therefore the oilers will sweep and dominate the flames in the regular season because logic!

I wonder if I can convince one of the oiler fans in my fantasy league to draft Rattie in the first round...

Maybe you could get something from him so that you bypass Rattie in the first round.

Oilers gonna Oiler.....
Quote:
Bob StaufferVerified account @Bob_Stauffer
This from an NHL scout today: "Bouchard is going to make the Oilers out of the gate. He is their best puck-mover. Smart and poised when he has it. They are going to have to work with him on defending, but he flat out makes plays.."
