This is how Ken King explained it back in 2011: The league basically buys the game from the "home" team. The host team receives an amount equal to the revenue they would have generated from a sellout in their home arena. All other revenue generated from the outdoor games then goes into the shared league-wide revenue.

I will never forget freezing my ass off at McMahon in 2011 and being unable to even buy a hot chocolate at the woefully understaffed concessions.
Hopefully this one is better-run and in slightly warmer weather.

I'd like to see them wear the white Atlanta Flames A. It still works for 'Alberta', we have the flags on our normal unis anyway, and it pays some homage to the franchise's past.
Or just a white retro flaming C. That would do as well.
As long as it's not the garbage they wore last time.

The Avalanche will be playing an outdoor game next February at the Air Force academy. That is a beautiful location and should be really nice. And not so cold either.

If the fake jersies had the correct red on them it wouldn’t have looked so bad. The real Heritage Classic ones are pretty nice. The Ronald McDonald ones not so much. I still have a toque that I quite like in those colours.
Though I agree the white retros would be cool.

So Mosaic holds 33350 and advertises that it's expandable to 40k. I'm assuming this game will get the full expansion. I'm curious what that will look like.
I'm assuming they haven't expanded for any events yet to look at?

I don’t think so. All of my family and friends there are already saying pass. Regina is all Leaf, Oiler and Habs fans. They’re going to need a lot of people make the drive from Winnipeg.

It's okay, we can just bump this when once it sells out.

So what is it then? It's gonna be "poorly attended" like you said last time or a "sell out"? You can't have it both ways

Wouldn't surprise me if Riders shareholders had a crack at tickets too.

Yes you can. Tickets sold doesn’t equal attendance. Regina has a history of these big events selling out but being poorly attended. Lots of tickets with be picked up by resellers and many locals looking to turn them for a profit only to find the market end up saturated.

So NHL announced the next winter classic will be held at the Cotton Bowl hosted by the Stars. But no opponent named.
Is that because it will be... Houston?
