They simply don't explain it. Just let the actor act.
Or have a witty remark like have him say "I didn't want you to feel bad that you have aged while I am timeless."

Sounds like John De Lancie returns next year as Q. How are they going to explain that he looks like an older then dirt wino? Did the Q fall on hard times, did they lie about being timeless? Is he in hiding from the rest of the continuum?
If they de-age him, I hope they do a better job than they did with Data.
you cake 8 pounds of makeup on him like they did on Data and have everyone pretend like he always had that scary bloated face ever since they first met at Farpoint. you also pretend that convincing deepfake technology doesn't exist.

He's an incorporeal lifeform; Q can take on whatever appearance he wants. That he ever appeared as a middle-aged human man was a conceit he just happened to go with, to make it easier for the puny humans to interact with him. He often materialized himself in a Starfleet captain's uniform, imitating Picard's; there's no reason to believe Q wouldn't "age himself up" just for the fun of imitating Picard again.

Of all the things that were wrong with Star Trek: Picard—and there were lots—I can't believe how people looooove to harp on the fact that Brent Spiner doesn't look exactly the same as he did in 2002, let alone 1987. At a certain point either you acknowledge the fact a 70-year-old man was trying to play a role he originated half a lifetime ago and just "deal with it", or you make snide remarks like a petulant child.
Honestly the only thing that bugged me was the colour of his contact lenses looked off. Other than that I'm glad the man got the chance to give the character a different, more profound send-off. The performance would have been cheapened if it was just some deepfake ####. I very much loved the last episode of The Mandalorian, but seeing an obviously faked "Luke Skywalker" deliver manipulated dialogue through a wooden computer-generated façade really cheapened the affect of the scene.

Oh Sweet Summer Child....do you not know Star Trek fans?
We're a nitpicky and self-deprecating bunch.
Maybe Data got Eye-Upgrades! They didnt even use the same actor for Bruce Maddox! So lame!!
Much like you suggested, we should 'just deal with' and move along....but thats just not how some of these people work.

I kind of wish the ending wasn't spoiled by the video with the actors. I mean, I know, its sad to wish a trailer ending wasn't spoiled but watching that without that knowledge would of been pretty fun
That's sadly a shuderingly terrifying possibility. Picard opens with "The Final Frontier is Time". And what is Discovery doing? Time travel. See where this is going, right?

You wash your filthy whore mouth for typing this possibility into existence. I want the discovery timeline to be erased in some q snap...
Whoever thought a mushroom drive should be canoned into star trek lore was an absolute moron.

They have a cross over episode, where Michael and the Discover do something hand in hand with the Enterprise and Picard during the TNG time line. At the end of it, Picard realizes his folly and declares Michael the best Captain in Star Fleet and she becomes Admiral Burnham. Then promptly holds a team meeting while the Borg attack and humanity is assimilated and she becomes the new Borg Queen.
Resistance is futile.

A exploration and military fleet in space. I want Wrath of Khan Star Trek, Battle of Maxia Picard, not Picard hanging out with Han Solo or Picard hanging out with space-god Q.

TNG is pretty strong Star Trek and space-god Q and Picard arguably the key stand-off of that show (perhaps the Borg).

Gene Roddenberry was responsible for Season 1 of TNG. That was his new-age vision. Go back and try to watch it. It's horrifyingly bad.
I mean, still better than Picard (which I couldn't get through even half the season of) but pretty bad. There are two good versions of Trek: post-season-2 TNG where you have a bunch of likable characters in morality plays, and DS9, which is a more serialized and character-driven version of what Trek can be. Lots of reasonable ground for disagreement about which of those is better. But it's neither Roddenberry Trek, nor is it the garbage that's been hocked as Star Trek in the last couple of decades.
You'd think there has to be a Star Trek version of Dave Filoni somewhere to hand the keys to, right?

difference is because TNG is episodic, Q pops in and out every once in a while to wreak havoc and then mostly leaves everything back where he found it with a few humbling lessons for the Enterprise crew. That way omnipotent quippy alien doesn't overstay his welcome. Even the Borg were not season long villains, which was a good thing because they soon became used too much and totally lost their intimidation factor.
a full season of old Q screwing around with old android Picard doesn't sound like a slam dunk to me, but who knows maybe he's there because they decided the mortal android body thing is a terrible idea after all so Q's just going to make him decrepit flesh again.

I don't have a problem with the "spore drive", I thought the idea was actually quite fascinating, but there was no reason to wedge it into the timeline pre-TOS. That part makes absolutely no sense, never did make any sense.
