my road bikes are still rim brakes but I pretty much bought my cyclo cross just to try disc and am a huge fan of them, what I dont like is threadless stems, they are a pointles pain in the arse, cant adjust the handlebar height properly

There's nothing like the sound of disc brakes squealing in the rain.

So is the issue you can't reach the levers properly, or they don't have enough stopping power when you pull them? Have you tried using them with your hands up on the hoods, reaching down? I find that's easier with urban riding.

I don't know this so it could be a stupid question, but are those similar to brakes levers on kids bikes where you can adjust the lever reach?

I bought a couple seat clamps, but they don't fit on the bikes they were intended for. Anyone need them?

They are just cheap-o generic ones. I have 2 black ones, and 2 red ones.

Send me a PM, and bring your bike by and see if they fit. You can have them for free, or donate a can of beer!

There's a guy in my neighborhood who rides a unicycle. Seen him the odd time coming down some of the hills too. They're not huge hills by any means but that can't be easy on a unicycle.

That takes more skill than riding a bike. They're welcome too and likely won't get involved in a rim vs disc debate.

Are cyclists allowed to use the separate bus lanes on 14th Street SW? Since there's pretty big gaps between the buses it feels like it would be okay.

Went out to highway 66 for a ride yesterday right before they open the highway and after about 10km I heard a sputtering sound.

Stopped, looked at my rear wheel and the sealant I topped up the other week was oozing out. So I gave the wheel a spin, it sealed itself and on I went. Didn’t even need to add any air or get my hands dirty.

Sure I could have removed the wheel and patched a tube, but instead it was a complete non-event and I got to focus on riding instead of holding up my friends. That’s why tubeless is awesome.

(still riding rim brakes though )

I've seen a guy out on the mountain bike trails on his unicycle. It was bloody impressive.

It's the last week for Minnewanka being closed to cars (Monday-Thursday).

I'm taking the afternoon off today to get out there to enjoy the good weather. The rest of the week looks a little sketchier weather-wise. Going to tackle the Norquay switchbacks too. No stops in town though.

Was out for a ride yesterday. At about the farthest point from home I discovered this...managed to make it all the way home with no boom. Guess I need to find a new tire.

Doesn't really look like a cut, more of an older tire just splitting, good to see the casing held. Or maybe you hit a super sharp but squiggly rock

Just before I left I looked and thought "damn, not much rubber left on this tire". Then I took it off road down the gravel path from Silver Springs to the river...so probably a little of both! I had also just pumped it up to 105psi, so the casing held very well. Didn't owe me anything, it was a freebee thrown in when my wife bought her bike.
