If you look at Buffalo's drafting in the last decade it will give you a big hint as to why they are so bad. I really don't know how they can fix that. They did make changes to their scouting this summer so those need to work. But that roster is so full of holes. I don't know if they have time to build around Eichel given how much needs to be added.

That skinner contract. I don’t even know how a GM could justify that. He came off a career year that was obviously an outlier. Anytime a player scores at a 2 goal to 1 assist ratio you know something is up. See Neal, James. Skinner is a legitimate 2nd line player who can skate but should be paid 4.5 not 9. Maybe Buffalo can do a massive contract swap with Florida for Bobrovsky?

To be fair how many 26 year old players coming off a 40 goal season and three other 30+ goal seasons only get $4.5m? everyone knew $9m was too much but it's Buffalo, like Edmonton they have to overpay for UFA's.
