What’s the best rule when playing a drinking game?
I was reminiscing with my wife about partying while in university or traveling and staying at hostels. I often found myself immersed in a drinking game - as you do.
What are your favorite rules to introduce while playing, I have two.
1) if it’s an international crowd make everybody speak in an accent foreign to their own. There is nothing better than listening to Europeans try and mimic a N. American accent.
2) go to hell - this rule means you have to spend a round under the table and everybody gets to kick you (lightly but annoyingly)
What are your favorite rules?

Buffalo is the simplest and greatest drinking game ever.

I never understood drinking games, and I'm not sure if they even exist back home.
The "punishment" is having to drink, and the "reward" is not getting to drink? Seems ass backwards.

Ireland. I think we played maybe one drinking game in university and it was a lame experience sitting there with a can in my hand but I'm not supposed to drink because I'm actually good at the game.

I've played Buffalo with lots of Irishmen.

Some friends and I a while back played Buffalo as an ongoing game so no matter when you were drinking, if you were around another who was "in" you had to be on the ball.
We had to keep making the rules more and more complex over time in order to be able to catch each other.

That's the beauty of the Buffalo, it is always on.

You don't "play" Buffalo. Buffalo is not a game. Buffalo is a way of life.

No, you're supposed to keep drinking at regular speed, but if you're bad at the game you end up drinking a lot faster. You just did it wrong.

Probably not what was being asked but safety was one of our biggest unwritten ones for the house parties I used to frequent:
Individuals not playing the game(s) must be the following:
- Sober
- Alert and aware (if drinking)
- In recovery position (if tired/not alert); if you notice someone not in recovery who should be, stop and put them in recovery position.
That group I partied with drank so much where it was expected a few individuals would end up throwing up by the end of the night so this was a good rule.

Good at the game? Sounds like someone messed up with the rules on that particular game.
