It's a meaningless call, again just make a stop, if they did they are in the playoffs. Timeout did nothing.

Carr was texting with the hobo deplorable in the morning. I now hate the Raiders.... lol

Why? If you think the timeout magically changes their plan, then it was worth a try. Because Raiders weren’t playing for tie. They were obviously playing to try a last play field goal. What is it you thought they were doing?

A timeout at the end of the previous play would have been a dumb move and signal they'd go for a win if they got the ball back. A timeout as the play clock runs down isn't anywhere close to the same thing.

Raiders are never going to admit exactly what they were gonna do but if there was no timeout there and the Chargers didn't allow the first down on the play that would have happened the Raiders would have killed the 30 seconds IMO
|
Yes, if it was 4th down and a 55 yd kick, they let the clock run out.

Its still stopping the clock when its the last thing they wanted, even a few seconds. Raiders changed their play call and got the first down and easy field goal range.
Raiders were gonna run the clock and try for a long field goal IMO
Carr himself said it changed their strategy...obviously they were gonna "go for the win" but a 55 yard FG is a much different story.
I'm not saying if they didn't call that timeout its for sure playoffs just that it wasn't a very smart call

I just love that it wasn't a fix. We are way past that in this day and age. People still being up 1982. That was a long time ago.

It seems obvious to me that the Raiders were trying to avoid the trip to KC.

I believe the Raiders are the first team to ever make the playoffs after firing the head coach. Pretty amazing to finish the season 10-7 after all that happened. Head coach fired midseason and two weeks later both 2020 first round picks released a week apart. No Waller for 5/6 weeks. Great job by Bisaccia. He's not likely to remain as head coach as the job is Harbaugh's if he chooses to accept. Can't ask for more from an interim coach.
Edit: Apparently first team since 1961

Also if its 4th down, the Chargers would have called another timeout. They wanted the ball back.

100% they were gonna to try for the FG but they weren't going to be very aggressive. Carr said they changed their play call after the TO. Might have been a first down either way but still a head scratcher.
Raiders kicker might make a 55 yarder anyway

It really wasn’t a head scratcher. The time out was not the difference. Not making the stop on 3rd down was.

That's dumb, were they gonna throw a hail mary? better chance hoping the other team misses a 55 yarder.

It's the only reason they called the first timeout, to call the 2nd one.

the two things are connected, at least partially
ask Carr, Raiders changed their play call after the timeout

so they could get the ball back in their own end with a few seconds left? IF the Raiders missed the kick. NFL network is ripping the TO right now. Raiders were gonna run a draw, kill the clock, and try for a long FG with 2 seconds left. That was the best path to the playoffs for the chargers. After the TO the Raiders called a more aggressive run play, got the first, kicked the easy FG.
Honestly Raiders probably win anyway its just a pointless TO by a coach that didn't understand the situation
