Called in and had a pretty painless 2 year renewal today- $115 for Total TV package and 300 MPS internet- I have to get a new fibre modem and send back my old one- is $6 more than I paid on my last 2 year deal...

Yeah, I've been hearing Shaw is mostly back to sweet retention deals after not so subtly moving away from them a year ago.

That's a really good deal, that's basically 2019 pricing. Did they offer you an option to add HBO?

They wouldn’t budge for me, but kept my medium tv + sports package and internet 300 for 125/month which is what I’ve had/paid the last 2 years.
Tried for more they told me to gtfo

Yikes, you should easily be around $100-$105 with both Shaw and Telus for that package. Shaw was going to be $100 for that exact package before I left.

They were charging me 165/month for that… due to contract expiring for 2 months.
But yes yikes is right.
Sadly I think they know Telus isn’t offered where I live sadly so I don’t have any other option.

They did not, but threw in a $50 bill credit for me being a longtime customer-never had that happen before. Has anyone swapped out the regular 300 mps for the new Fibre 300?

What's the difference other than the name? Speeds look the same. It's definitely not a fibre optic connection.

I'm honestly not sure either. I'm pretty sure its FTTN, unlike Telus is FTTH. I switched to the Fibre+gig, I still get pretty poor ping times, but I get like 1.2gig down which is quite something. It uses an Arris modem again through Coax which I had with 300 a long time ago as well before I went back to the Hitron.

Anyone else switch to Freedom Home Internet (Shaw)? I'm paying $55/mo since I have my cell with Freedom also.

Much better than the $95/mo plus the 2 times Telus charged $20 for going over data. Download speed also went waaaaay up with Freedom/Shaw. F'ing Telus.

That seems like about as much as you could possibly pay for that. Was that you phoning and them telling you that or a posted deal on their website?

Via chat, to be fair my contact isn't up until summer I just was hoping to lock into something decent while they were supposedly being generous

As a non-customer I recently received a promo from the offering Internet 500 for $79. Add on Total TV for $50
The link on the promo was shaw.ca/brightdeal

I'm a new customer for Shaw, curious what sort of deals if any others have seen. Looking for internet only and ideally 750+

Has anyone had experience cancelling their Shaw service? And specifically, any luck getting out of the exit charges (24 months not up)?

Thanks,

Had a nice surprise with Shaw today. Went into the Market Mall store to setup a new mobile number, and after the rep pulled up my account she offered me a new deal on internet. Upgraded my speeds from 300 to 750 mbps and reduced my monthly bill from $69 to $65 on a 2 year contract. My previous contract had just expired which was going to increase my internet bill to $100/mo, so apparently I picked the perfect time to go in

I also have to say how nice the new blue curve modem is compared to the old Hitrons. I remember fighting with a technical support rep to try and get the Hitron into bride mode until I finally gave up and just setup a DMZ for my local network. With the blue curve however it's a single button click on the web console for bridge mode. So much simpler, and now my home network VPN actually works like it's supposed to. Also I was unaware that Shaw increased their upload speeds to 100 mpbs on their fibre+ plans, that was another nice surprise. I might not even bother switching to Telus fibre when it's available

Returning customer to Shaw and I got 150/15 internet plan for $50/month on a 2 year contract. When I was signing up the sales rep at the store kept telling me that it was 100mbps upload speed and I kept correcting her that it in fact was not. She insisted it was. Of course when it got installed it was the 15mbps upload, just like the website says. Not sure why she kept insisting it was 100.

Seems quite expensive for the speed. Shaw gave me the 700/100 plan for $65/mo on a 2 year contract when I went into their Market Mall store in May. And I didn't even ask for it, I was just there to setup a new phone. When they pulled up my account they saw that my previous 2 year contract had expired so they asked me if I wanted the faster plan on a cheaper price. Maybe I just got really lucky
