I support the Flames in participating in Pride, changing their avatar to support the event. The comment section this morning is infuriating with how ignorant people can be on a public forum.

The Flames Profile Picture is the worst, Stampeders is a close second.

Oh god...
Never, ever, ever read the comments section for anything on the internet. No good can come of it.

I like the dudes who conflate hockey with manliness and think a professional sports team supporting Pride is like a blow against their own personal boner hardness.

To be honest I was expecting a lot worse. Only a couple of overly bigoted comments. Some veiled "where's my hetero pride parade" bigot comments but mostly a lot of people being positive.

A lot of real clever folks there with the "flamers" comment. Like no one has ever used that before

It's often impolite, sure, depending on the way it's brought up. And a Canadian citizen of Korean descent is as much a Canadian as someone who can trace back a lineage four generations. But the anxiety and shaming around this kind of social digression is bizarre. Really, I think more Canadians need to travel a bit. Get some perspective on the way most people on the planet behave.

Completely irrelevant and really apples to oranges. And that's from someone who's stepped on three different continents, close to 20 different countries and has friends in every corner of the world (and I would guess has done it much more recently among a younger crowd than yourself), if that's really going to be your go to for an appeal to authority.

I remember the thread last year on this exact same issue. In fact if you scroll through the profile pics you can find the same logo and the responses from that year. It was even more relevant as Brian Burke served as the grand Marshal of the pride parade.
Far more negative comments a year ago, comparatively. Goes to show the progress that can be made just by showing support and starting the conversation. Kudos Flames.

Please tell me someone here knows these folks. They need to be publicly shamed.

If you want to find out who they are, just go to random parks in Brentwood pretending to plant trees. They should come to you.
Actually, that kinda sounds like a really fun way to troll them. When you find out which park sets them off, let us know. This could be fun.

I found it in Google maps pretty easily from the pic in the story. Kinda set back from Northland Mall, and I can kind of see some of the concern with so many people that might be passing by there. With the combination of high school students and Fanny's Fabrics customers, I think they are right to be nervous.

I have a lot of green space around my house and I have to agree with that lady. They planted trees a few years ago and there was definitely a lot of stuff that started happening in the trees including sexual rendezvous, a lot of smoking weed, some camping from the bums.
I don't think anyone can understand until it happens to them. At first I was happy with the trees but now I wish they'd cut them down.

One of the controversies in Sydney right now is the destruction of trees to build a light rail. As much as the rail is needed the protester's do have a point that we shouldn't be chopping down trees all willy nilly in the name of progress.
On the other hand, people in Calgary are protesting against MORE trees!?! So ridiculous I can't stop laughing
