I'm just going to leave this here. the state of political leadership in both our countries depresses me, but seriously this video kind of made me miss McCain a lot.

Class in politics is what we're missing. Now it's all about one up-ing, deflection, finger pointing, tweets, etc. And that's just the politicians themselves.

Don't even get me started on the voters.

Do you think he could have won if he leaned into the fear and weaponized it like Trump did?

Letís be clear here that McCain only stated that Obama was not an ďArabĒ, not shutting down the obvious racism against people from the Middle East. This is still the same party but with an uglier face.

I never had much time for his politics but McCain never struck me as anything other than a decent human being, the same appeared true with the Bush's, GW struck me as a bit dim, his father very bright, but neither of them seemed evil, Reagan and Trump on the other hand seemed completely self serving and quite happy to stoop to any low to gain personal power, which is effectively evil.

Many, many people see GW as quite evil with what happened during his presidency.

Also there is a big chunk of my pay cheque every month that the government takes and just spends on health care. Since Alberta spends 40 percent of it's budget on health care i would imagine its more than 400 bucks a month. Also meds aren't covered here either.
In other news, Trump is over 53% approval on Rasmussen, just ask him

I think most tend to have negative views about the people around himómen like Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and John Boltonówhile viewing Dubya merely as an ineffectual, naÔve figurehead.

Letís get real. Trump did not expect to win in 2016. He didnít. No one in his campaign did. He won on a plurality of 77,000 votes across three states. This is the slimmest of margins. In 2018 that gap shifted left hard. If the electoral college was in play then Trump loses by a massive margin. Add in the shifts in Florida, felons getting their vote back, and in Arizona, where a lesbian was just voted into the senate, the game has changed dramatically and not in Trumpís favor. Something strange will have to happen to repeat 2016.

Based on what happened in the mid-terms and Trump not even hiding the fact that he's a flat-out racist at this point, I think the Dems have a better than average chance of winning this time...provided they campaign hard in those rust belt states and not f*** it up.

Problem is, Democrats are really good at shooting themselves in the foot, so it wouldn't surprise me at all to see them drop the ball again. The Bernie Bros and the "anyone but Biden" folks need to start acting like adults and rally around the eventual Dem candidate, no matter who it ends up being. If not, then get ready for 4 more years of Trump insanity and the end of America as we once knew it.
