This is from an earlier album than one of my favorite albums of all time, Sold With a Smile. It may be too big of a success for your show. For that reason I'm avoiding Moist and I Mother Earth and their ilk. I've been thinking about my wayback machine, but I honestly don't know the names of a lot of punk bands I listened to in the early 90s, and certainly not which ones were Canadian. Maybe I'll hear some on your show, and then I'll know! Meantime, I know that when I go visit my Mum, I'll spend some time digging in the garage for my old music stash, so thank you for that.

I had some Hanky Panky and Bopalena on the show this year!

One of my first dates was seeing KD Lang and the Reclines open for Los Lobos in Edmonton. That was a non-stop dance party.

Bloodbath at the Chinese Disco is my favourite compilation of Calgary bands. From Field Day to ##### Monster, it’s all great.

I have most of those comps from funding drives. They’re great too.

One band that really could have been big was the Minks. I used to chat with Pascal, their bassist, on IRC and he played me demos before the album came out and I loved them. It’s too bad they had to break up.

I'll never say no to Sloan! obviously they have become more name brand with time, but for college radio you can never go wrong with some earlier stuff

for example Left of Centre

if only for one of the great opening lyrics of all time...(spoken as someone who was in grade 3 in 1977!)

I remember Uncle Owen
Because his story was aimed at me
That was 1977
And I was in grade three

1975

1980

And I know this is a cover and more prog rock or metal, but a very underrated Canadian group IMO.

1989 (Canadian)
