Maybe a 7th, to Arizona to help fill their roster.

Let them call on Bennett, he's here for at least one more year before that idea gets tossed around.

Listening to Treliving yesterday on the FAN he indicated things are pretty slow right now league wide. I was fairly convinced that names like Skinner, Faulk, Pacioretty would all be moved before the start of the season but it is rare we see names like that traded in late July or August.
As for the Flames I think they are done for the summer save a PTO or depth signing. The biggest news we are waiting on are the Hanifin and Jankowski contracts and the possibility of a Bryout. Maybe they add a goalie but I think they come back with Rittich/Gillies begins Smith
Treliving added 4 new forwards and a top 4 Dman this summer which is pretty huge turnover. It has been a fun few weeks but I think we are done making major moves for a while.

I liked Shore but I don't know if they have room on the roster for him. IMO I feel like Quine was a cheaper solution to him.

I thought so before July 1. But with Bennett, Ryan, Jankowski, Lazar, Jankowski, Quine all able to play bottom 6 C, and with all of those guys plus Brouwer, Czarnik, Frolik, Hathaway, able to play wing (and guys like Dube, Klimchuk, Mangiapane, Foo and even Shinkaruk able to come up) there's not a whole lot of room or need to add a contract.

Totally forgot about Quine - I remember he scored an OT winner for the Isles in the playoffs, and other than that I've never heard of him.
Looking at our list of bottom 6 forwards, I don't see how or why Brouwer is going to be here in September. Too much speed and skill to let Shankopotamus cruise around as the #4RW/13th forward.

Because he has an immovable contract with a modified NTC.

Yup, I just don't see it happening. I get the impression that he is liked by the leadership and they'd like him on the bench in whatever capacity possible.

I’d love it if Brouwer was as ornery as a Water Boy.

It is tough to find a roster spot for Brouwer but unless they need the money for long term Hanifin deal it makes more sense to buy out Troy next summer.
A lot of teams have cap space so hopefully there is a team out there that would take him retained for future considerations.

Why?
4.5+1.5+1.5 = 7.5M vs 1.5+1.5+1.5+ 1.5 = 6M
What pressing need will we have three years hence that will require that 1.5M in cap space? It's not like the penalty is significantly longer... it's having Brouwer on the books for three years rather then four (and buying him out this year saves them 1.5M real dollars). YMMV but I think it makes more sense to buy him out now.

I would rather the Flames retain on a trade. Brouwer at 50% retention MIGHT get some bites, and then the contract is off the books completely in two years.
