I always kind of thought that a quality start should be something better than 3 ER over 6 innings. That's a 4.5 ERA. Just seems like a low bar to set. .

Its a lower quality start but still good enough to get the win. The main thing though is his age, ability to throw strikes combined with his ability to miss bats.
Like I said he's 22 and in AA/AAA combined this year I think he's now 10-2 with a 3 ERA plus a 10 K/9 & 4 BB/9 rate. That's really, really good stuff.

In fairness, it's a "quality" start and not a "high quality" start.

Perfect timing. Soon the unlucky injury will come to end any trade hopes to make it full Blue Jays.

That was a very frustrating sequence from Happ. Walking Bradley Jr to load the bases with Mookie betts coming up followed by the requisite grand slam on a full count. Oh well.

Jays at Red Sox. 6 6 in the top of the third.
Now 8 6 Jays, Porcello out of the game now. None out.

Good to see the boys get a win there. The bats were looking great tonight.
Hats off to Petricka too who came in and settled things down and wound up with the W.
Started watching half way through but looks like the 7 runs weren't all on Berucki. 4 E's so only 4 of the 7 runs charged to him.
Always good to spank the Bosox at Fenway.

Definitely advantage BoSox. Tired Blue Jays bullpen vs that lineup is probably not going to end well.
Gurriel looks like a potential star though. There haven't been many bright spots this season but that is one.

Damn it. Gurriel's error killed the team there.

Gurriel really needs to clean up his defensive game. Oh well losing to the Red Sox sucks but its all about looking forward. Vladdy hit a double today in his rehab start.

So Gurriel Jr is out on the 7 day concussion DL. Pillar is out for at least 6 weeks. Of course so is Estrada, Sanchez, Tepera, Donaldson, Tulowitzki and the Osuna situation.

Some numbers...
Jays 7-19 with a -39 run differential against the Yankees and Red Sox. (LOL -39 RD in 26 games!)
Jays 36-33 against the rest of MLB with a -6 run differential.
I could go for some realignment. What a #### division to be stuck in all the damn time. Red Sox and Yankees are a combined 67 games above 500, the two best records in baseball.
Also, that's with only:
2.7 WAR combined from Happ, Estrada, Sanchez and Stroman (19-25 record)
0.6 WAR and 36 games from Donaldson
0.4 WAR and 15 games from Osuna
0.8 WAR and .606 OPS from Martin
0.0 WAR and 0 games from Tulowitzki
I mean really.....

Realignment will never happen unless another team joins the MLB, and I don't see that happening for a while.
Silver linings: Jays were likely to not to reach the playoffs this year regardless of how the Yankees and Red Sox played, so I suppose its nice this is the year they are world beaters. Hopefully they come back down to earth next year.
Also, just looked at the AL East standings and its pretty comical.
1) Yankees have a 62-33 record and are 4.5 games back
2) Rays are over .500 and are 18 games back
3) Baltimore is somehow 39.5 games back before the All-Star break

I like it, and those are nicely geographical, but since it will be Montreal and not Charlotte that really throws a wrench in the plans. I guess you could put the Expos where the Jays where the Cardinals are and stick the Cardinals in with the Braves and the two Florida teams.
