Default Netflix's The Dark Crystal

So as for many of us older folks, this movie was a special memory and I'm sure all of us were worried about a remake.

Fear not, I am 6 episodes in and this deserves its 8.9 on IMDB and then some!

Them using puppets mixed in with stunning CGI has recreated the original for modern times without losing its unique charms.

Can't recommend this series enough.

the teasers I saw showed they were treating the original with the appropriate respect.

Yea I got through the first episode so far and it is awesome. Great blend of old and new. It has that very classic RPG feel to it which is what drew me to this world in the first place way back when.

Replace those races with any traditional fantasy and you've got the tellings of any great RPG campaign.

It's so great to see someone get the concept of a proper sequel (well prequel in this case). This series is great. The focus is on the spirit of the original and not gimmicks or fanservice.

Loved the original series and the creepy villains. I'm going to binge watch this series probably at the end of the bantam football season.

Two episodes in and it's fantastic. A little thrown that all of the gelflings are british for some reason, but meh, it makes it a little classy and more lord of the ringsish.

I'm already considering watching it all over again, that was such a fun and enjoyable experience, the humor, the darkness, everything was just so perfect.

I loved the movie as a kid and rewatched it in preparation for the series and it's possible nostalgia played a part but I felt the movie still held up, it was super creepy and an over all good watch. Starting the series on Netflix I disappointingly struggled to get through three episodes even though the voice acting, art direction, costumes, special & practical effects were all amazing but the writing, convoluted plot and world building were all so boring I just couldn't do it. Unfortunately it just wasn't for me so I'll finish Good Omens and then may just watch The Boys for a second time, lol.

I just finished it and thought this was pretty amazing for the most part. Did take a bit to get into, I saw the movie many times as a child. Just the right amount of darkness to appeal to me. I really enjoyed the making of documentary as well, its amazing the world they had to craft being that they didn't do any on location stuff and had to build something like 70-80 sets from scratch.

I think especially the final 3-4 episodes were standouts, the comedy that came with their climb up the stone tower in the desert, those 2 were hilarious.

Finished watching it, loved it. Thought it was a fresh take on a classic setting and story. They did an incredible job of blending that CGI and puppetering. There is also a 'making of the dark crystal' documentary on Netflix that is worth a watch.

Hup is still my favourite.

Spoiler!
