I hate seeing this stuff. But it will never be 100% eliminated. There will always be one clown who takes things where they should not go. Being Chinese and playing since I was 8, I have experienced racism at every level I've played. That being said, I have never felt unsafe because of it, and believe that 99% of the people out there don't feel the same way. Every time I've stuck up for myself or a teammate for racism, the offending party always comes out looking like the narrow minded loud mouth.

Be a good person, stick up for yourself and those around you. That's all you have control of.

I agree, calling them "clown" lessen the damage they did to people. They are not clowns, clowns are nice and funny, and sometimes can pick a kid's spirit up. They are racists, a civilized society should try it's hardest to rid of racism.

This is disgusting. I thought the coach responded phenomenally, and tried to make it a teaching moment. I'd love to see the fall out from this, but this angered me reading the dick-bag's text. As a visible minority playing hockey and coaching my kid, I wonder if some parents think the same thing of me. It's sad and pathetic

When I was a kid growing up in Grand Prairie. (that should be enough said) I always wore my flames hat to school, in a obviously oilers fan base. There were many days where I would come home from school, after playing hockey at the rink outside of school, I would followed by a gang of native Americans, and they would be yelling out, Hey fag white boy; The Calgary flames are gay! And of course they would attempt to kick my ass on a daily basis, while calling me rich white boy. Meanwhile, I’m actually a very white native Americans myself. #measwell

I've never heard that at a rink, though I'm sure I've sat with people who thought it. Never heard anything about a coach's ethnicity. But people are saying the stuff they used to think right out loud now.

I fight with that too, but at the end of the day people like this are impacted mostly by shame because they are cowards. People who want to be closet racists deserve to be outed in front of the world. And every ounce of shame and negative impact on their life is wholly justified. Enough of hiding racism behind the curtain yet letting it exist and fester. Maybe it will be a teachable moment and they will realize that thinking any human is better than another due to skin pigmentation makes you a complete moron.

The more I read this, the more I have a hard time believing it. 4186 messages. Who is this guy? Not only that, but Would you trust the guy that ignores over 4k messages to read the one you sent? Also, in the time it took him to read the message, write a new message, why hasn’t that number changed? This feels manufactured, and people know they would get a reaction out of others on social media.


No date or carrier. It’s obviously an apple device, and yet it’s not an iPad, you can tell by the screenshot.

Also take note that the wifi indicator, it’s on the right side of the devise. That’s the case on iPods, iPads. But not iPhones.

Some of your suspicions seem easily explainable to me, not enough to discredit it, BUT: this same dude has claimed this twice before. Not only that, there is apparently no record of him being where he says he was.

I'm going to say this is likely fake. Not definitely, but likely.

Read the article and the majority of the insults didn't seem racist.

The incident sparked a series of racially charged comments on social media. Some called the Toronto native a "coward" and a "###### bag" while others stooped lower.

One man sent a photo of Smith to his personal Facebook account with "Hockey N-----" in the caption.

Unfortunate that people still instinctively go for physical characteristics to insult people. Teach your kids to call someone a piece of #### without mentioning what they look like. It's lazy and it makes you look ridiculous.
