icon57 UPD: Mangiapane listed as day to day. Peters optimistic he will be back next week.

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Decent chance Andrew Mangiapane misses time coming from Thursday’s game vs. Detroit.

If that’s the case, Calgary has next to no cap flexibility, so AHL recall is tricky. Would have to roll with 12 forwards or temporarily send Kylington to AHL to open up room. #Flames

That is disappointing. Mangiapane has looked like he is ready to break out in a big way. Hopefully, he doesn't miss much time, and more importantly I am hoping he picks up right where he left off when he gets back.

I think Steinberg is overstating the Flames cap flexibility issues.

According to capfriendly, the Flames have $154,958 in projected cap space.

They can call up a player like Quine and he will cost them ~$4k per day in cap space on the NHL roster. Which means they could technically bring Quine up for 40 days on the NHL roster without needing to make a corresponding cap move. So if we are talking a handful of games, it wouldn't be that big of a deal.

They also have potential LTIR space they could use with Valimaki, which according to capfriendly they haven't dipped into yet.

Bring in So Cal for the next two makes last minute recalls easier, especially with the Heat in San Diego and Bakersfield this weekend

Eric Francis @EricFrancis
Bill Peters said Lindholm is good to go tonight. Mangiapane did not make the trip but coach is optimistic he’ll be good for next week.
