Speaking of crashes....
Spoiler!

Norway's first battery-powered airplane crashed into a lake yesterday, Reuters reports. While no one was harmed in the crash, the incident could be a set back for the country, which hopes to electrify all domestic flights by 2040.

It's still unclear why the electric plane, an Alpha Electro G2, lost engine power, forcing the pilot to crash-land on his way back to the airport.

Is there an air show or something today? I just got back from the airport, and the inside of my house has more jet noise than the terminal. Constant flyovers of really loud airplanes, definitely unusual...

I knew they were coming but they still scared the #### out of me. They flew even closer to my place than usual.

Here's my video. Labour Day is my favourite day of the year just for the flyby!

They must have made 10 passes over our house prior to kick off at 2:30, it was a fun air show. Guess they had a few extra dollars in the fuel budget today!

I was talking to one of the armed forces personnel (no idea the proper term) at the game and they said that they got clearance for a extra low fly by (500 ft) so it got to be nice and louder then normal. Just a major rush/thrill overall.

Air Canada has pushed the 737 MAX out of their schedule until February 14, 2020 now.

Yeah, apparently they have ferried at least 10 of them to Marana, Az for storage.

Oh boy, this isn't great for Boeing:

A Boeing pilot working on the 737 Max said in messages from 2016 that a new automated system was making the plane difficult to control in flight simulators, more than two years before it was grounded following two deadly crashes.

This isn't a revenue flight but Qantas is testing JFK-SYD and LHR-SYD non stop flights. Both would clock in at 18.5 hours give or take.

Well they would definitely be geared toward business travelers. I would imagine the 787-9s would be configured in similar fashion to Singapore's SIN-EWR A350-900 which seats only business and premium economy (no economy seats).

That would allow for extra weight for fuel, and ensure passengers have enough space to stretch out and move around without being crowded.

My current project I'm working on involves understanding whether time charged corresponds to flight hours filed.

With commercial or fixed wing aircraft this is largely possible through FlightAware. Is there service like this (or some source of publically available information) for chartered helicopters in Canada?

Flightplans aren't publically available are they? Do helicopters have to file these?

Its a pretty broad question, and you're better off calling a company for a better answer.

But, sometimes with fixed wing there's a mileage charge.

With the different type of work that helicopters do, it would likely be an hourly rate.

Just my best guess though

FlightAware shows the flight planned route. Not always complete, not always accurate.
