Agreed. I don't think he is lying. I think that the so called "conflicting info" could make sense in a singular truthful scenario.
1. He tests positive for a PED and has no clue why he tested positive for a PED.
2. Finds out that some supplement he has been taking for 4 years is actually banned and considered a PED (ie: Nothing nefarious, but even inhalers qualify at times as PEDs). He knowingly took it, but was unknowing it wasn't allowed.
3. Chats with McPhee stating that he knows he's been taking the substance he tested positive for.
4. Openly admits he took the substance, won't appeal. Understands ignorance doesn't forgive the fact he took the substance and will serve his penalty.
I seem to recall that after Cherepanov passed away, many Russian athletes stated taking some supplement to prevent that heart condition from happening to them. But this supplement while not banned in Russia nor all international competitions is banned in enough competitions that it has a big enough profile in the spot light.
