Maybe try and pick up a better 4th line center at the deadline.
Backlund has a full NTC for two more years. Not happening.

So what. I’ve seen enough poor play without the puck over the years, that I’m not impressed with the player and his overall game.

He has been a minus 6 of the last 7 seasons.

Well yeah, he’s been playing on the Oilers and the Devils. He’s been in bad situations

Yeah. The captain of a team with bad culture up there, and understood to be more cause than solution.

I am more interested in someone who makes everyone on the ice, and the team, better, not just being the best player on a bad team.

Playing devils advocate, why not?

Based on what has been said publicly, Stone wanted to go to Vegas. If that's true, no way should Treliving have included Valamaki as part of the deal.

What if Hall is prepared to sign an extension? Is Valamaki on the table?

If I'm Treliving I'm offering one of two packages having heard NJ is looking for a LHD as part of the deal.

Bennett, Kylington, 1st & Frolik / Hall & Wood

Bennett, Valamaki 3rd & Frolik / Hall & Wood

So is everyone else. Who do you think out of everyone here wouldn’t prefer someone who makes everyone on the ice, and the team, better?

But sure, we’ll just go grab one of those. There are so many available and for such a nice price.

Taylor Hall isn’t why 6 of the last 7 seasons have been brutal for his teams. One player doesn’t make a team give up a goal on a shift.

Taylor Hall is elite. In the one year he was surrounded by a “decent” team, he won league MVP.

McDavid is almost as crappy a player with zero for a +/- this year.

They have a total of 3 plus players this season (+3 leading). If plus minus mattered at all

Yes, McDavid’s defensive lack of effort offsets the benefit of a lot of the goals he scores

Gaudreau is a minus 8 this year. Should we get rid of him?

Plus minus as a stat to evaluate players is basically useless

Who says you need to grab anything?

You leave your trash in the alley. I am not picking it up. That I leave to the garbage man

Hall would change all of that, as he's the type of player you send your top shut down guys against.
I’ve watched Hall lots this season and based on his effort level he’s banking on his 1 Hart season to cash in as an UFA.

No it is not. It is one of many valid stats to be considered in context

Gaudreau’s big minus is an anomaly career wise.

How would you evaluate Gaudreau’s play this year? Above or below expectations?

He’s a had a rough 20 games or so.

That’s not the point though. Hall has been on terrible teams his entire career. To dismiss him as a player because of plus minus is foolish.

Calgary would be lucky to have him on the roster. He is an elite player.

Okay so use some context for crying out loud.

3 of the last 4 seasons when he was a minus (including a -1 and -4) his team was 7th, 8th, and 8th in their div.

Pretty dubious claim. How on earth can you pretend to know that Hall is banking on his season from two years ago? That's not really how life works. If Hall wants to maximize his 'payday' it would best serve him to do well this year. I'm fairly certain this is not lost on him.

He's probably saying 'trade me, the sooner the better'.

Generally when you’re trying to improve your team you have to acquire players.

And if you’re philosophy is that Hall is trash and you want something better, then you’re going to have give up a lot more while hoping something better becomes available.

That’s just kind of the basics around how these things work.
