Jeff is back. They're in the eye now so it's a little calmer.

I don't know that I've ever seen a storm like this. Half the storm is on land, and yet it's just not losing intensity. Still a solid Cat 4 hurricane, with a still clearly defined eye. It's also just completely stalled out. Models are showing this thing retaining hurricane status for another 24+ hours (I've seen models keeping it at hurricane status up through until Wednesday). These areas where it's going to just stall out over are going to get absolutely crushed with rain and wind.

I hate that I have to work in the morning, I just want to stay up all night and watch this thing. This is a weather nerd's dream.

weather network suggesting this could be the first single hurricane to make landfall in Texas twice.

Nuts.

Who's the moron standing outside waiting for a shingle to decapitate him? Jeff doesn't seem to acknowledge he's even there

This is a crazy storm and I'm glad we cancelled our trip to Houston for the weekend although it was a pretty easy call to make. My buddy just moved out to Katy with his family about 2 months ago and this is their first hurricane.

Reporting live from Houston . Effect on the city has been very minor for the most part. Maybe 4 inches of rain and sunny right now. A couple of tornadoes touched down causing some property damage so certainly not minor to those people affected. Still expecting more rain but most recent forecast is more positive for Houston. Corpus and areas south and west of Houston really getting wet now. River and bayou flooding will be problem going forward.

That was a big, big hurricane.
