Are you sure that word means what you think it does?
The Captain's blog (Star Trek Pun unintentional) could be very loosely described as a dissertation but you seem to use the word as a verb.
Anyway it was I thought quite clearly written with comedy at least in part intended - as is the entire thread.

Just wouldn't mind an honest answer from some Oiler or non-oiler fans on the board.

is this the E=NG thread? Where the majority of CP's oiler fans lurk/post? Figured this was the perfect spot for my question? Guess I will move on.

I'm speaking somewhat tongue-in-cheek here. There is practically nothing in this thread that approaches the definition of "objective."
But to answer your question about McDavid, he is the best player in history because he skates really fast.

No. It's because of the crossovers.

Sadly it took me several months, if not years, to fully grasp the first part.

But admit it: you are a happier person since you figured it out, right?

My God yes.
I am now also far more knowledgeable about another team's cap situation than I am of my own bank account. I believe Cap has it mapped out until 2042 at which time they might be able to sign a waiver pickup to the NHL minimum.

I think it is the leadership, the ability to say "let's go" after a historical third period collapse, that is greatness

Somewhere between $8MM and $9MM seemed to be the range many are expecting it will land in.

I think they are waiting for Klondike Days to roll through Edmonton so they can add unlimited Conklin tickets.

It will be leaked at about 1/2 mil to 1 million higher than the actual number.
I'll guess 8.75
After the mullet headed, sweatpants and good shoes, bruised leg masses get used the the idea of this number the real deal will be announced. Lets guess 8 million avv.
Dry Saddle will be praised for following McLottery leadership and leaving money on the table. Edmonton fans will rejoice in the certain return of the glory days of 3 decades past.

I do find the Draisaitl cap situation interesting.
Draisaitl produced 77% of what McDavid did last year, 85% of what he did if you include playoffs too.
So that means if you are Draisaitls agent you are making a production comparison that means a cap hit of between $9.6M and $10.6M.
That is too much for sure but how low can you really grind him down before it creates an issue between each side. Get him down to $8M...probably not since it's going to be tough to tell him he's worth 2/3 what McDavid is.
Might be able to be him in around $9M but that still means a big contract.
