Maybe he'll play the first half in Europe, play in the Olympics then join an NHL team after that?

Of course cause October 4th is my birthday, and I'm going to have my dream of Jagr in Flames silks crushed the day after.
thanks a lot Notley

Jagr knows that E=NG, why start your Flames career in that stinkhole?
He will be in town for the home opener.

Probably ends up being something like this.
Doubt he would have a set date to announce his plan like that if there was immediate NHL interest. That team would likely sign him prior to the season starting on the 4th.
Here's to hoping though.

I hear the main issue is that the Flames want to pay half his salary up front, and the other half through a Mullet Revitalization Levy.

With how unimpressive Foo and Poirier have been, it's basically looking to be Dube vs Jagr at this point for 3LW/RW
19 year old vs 45 year old

If he does this he will give up a lot of control of where he ends up playing in the NHL.
Any player who plays in a European league after the start of the NHL season needs to clear waivers before signing with a NHL team unless he already was on the team's reserve list.
For an example of this see Nabokov trying to join the red wings in 2011:
http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nabo...claim-1.998720
Nabokov wanted to join the Red Wings for a playoff run but because he played in the KHL, he had to clear waivers. The Islanders, who were a non-playoff team that year, ended up claiming him.

Two of these players have played two pre-season games while the other has appeared in only one. It is a tad premature to be drawing conclusions about the internal competition—although I will agree that Foo looks like he is on his way to the AHL.

Im a little confused too. Maybe this means that he is still in talks with NHL teams (including the Flames?). And if nothing gets finalized by opening day on the 4th, he will go with his backup plan and announce on the 5th where he is playing in Europe.

Yeah, that's my thinking. If he doesn't have an NHL deal by the start of the season, he'll play in Europe.

So does anybody think that the Blackhawks have interest in Jagr? He is announcing where he plays on October 5th. If I am not mistaken, the Blackhawks can't place Hossa on LTIR until the start of the season which is October 5th? Obviously Chicago wouldn't be able to commit to Jagr unless they know they have the cap space (which is clear once Hossa is placed on LTIR)..

Nothing new I don’t think, as the article is mostly filled with tidbits already known about Jagr and when his decision is to be made, that’s he is not coming here on a PTO etc, but article was written yesterday in the Czech Republic and he’s been training with the team he owns 4 or 5 times and the hope, it seems, from Kladno is that he will decide to play for them...anyways so it’s the most recent and local Czech media chatter there is, such as it is or isn’t, and still the only NHL team name in the article is Calgary (again old news, but point is there is no more new news on it, or this article would have that).

Tkachuk-Backlund-Frolik
Gaudreau-Monahan-Ferland
Versteeg-Bennett-Jagr
Stajan-Jankowski-Hamilton/Lazar/Hathaway
We need this.
4th line is still kind of weak on the wings but at least the 3rd line would be stable.

Yep. The only way Jagr is in is if Stajan is out IMO
Gaudreau - Monahan - Ferland
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Versteeg - Bennett - Jagr
Brouwer - Jankowski - Lazar
Hathaway, Hamilton
Stajan - Trade, buried, press box
It’s sad cause I like Stajan as a person and even as a player but it’s the truth.
