Fair enough. Didn't know that. Seems a bit harsh a guy can't retire here and still play in Europe. Euros got screwed on that agreement.

According to reports out of the Czech Republic this week, he'll be going home to play for Kladno. If they don't go further and put him on unconditional waivers and terminate his contract, he would be eligible to return later in the season (so long as the Flames keep paying his contract).

If I had inside facts to support a comment like that - i'd be working for the Athletic rather than posted on CP

So yes - it is just baseless speculation if you feel the need to avoid seeing the obvious in what was made publicly available on how this situation played out in Calgary for Jagr.

I was not a fan of this from the get go. I'm glad its over.

McKenzie follow up says if no one claims Jagr then he goes on unconditional waivers for purpose of termination.

Shame it couldn’t work out, still was awesome seeing him play live in Vancouver.

Im very happy it happened just for the practice chats and development that the rest of the players have shown. The way that they use their bodies to shield the puck is miles better than I’ve seen them do in the past.

Love Jagr, but hard not to feel pretty underwhelmed, overall.

Crazy how many Jagr jerseys they must have sold though. Seemed at the game last week 1 in 5 people had one

I don't understand why so many people think Jagr is holding out because he wants to play in the Olympics.

The guy hasn't played in an Olympic game since 2006, and hasn't played in a World Championship since 2011. He is not playing in South Korea.

He doesn't seem to know what's going on. From the stories out of the Czech Republic this week, it sounds like the plan is to keep the door open for now.

He played olympics in 2010. But has retired from national play.

Just about to post something similar. McKenzie a little scattered with his info. All I can add is I personally don't think he will be back.

Surely Jagrs camp has made it clear to all the teams that he wants to go back to Europe. Claim him, you will be shamed and he won't play type thing. I don't see a situation where he wants to go to a losing team and he won't get much for minutes on a winning team.

Very confident he will be Europe bound in 22 hours IMO

Don't regret my Jagr jersey purchase in the slightest.

Farewell Glorious Mullet!

Would have been nice if you'd made it a couple more months though!

I have no regrets on the Jagr jersey.

The only one that has been deleted is McKenzie's first one where he said it was unconditional waivers.

Id love to see the Pens grab him... even just to have him close it out where it all started.

Must be a problem on your end, they're not dead.
