Can't wait to play the good teams.. Ah
Other than Johnson the only bright spot was wideman in the press box making for fair reffing.
Edit: meant for post game talk

I was never really a fan. I just keep hoping that everyone else is right and they are seeing what I don't.

Dougie was fine tonight. Least of this team's problems.

Not only was hamilton bad, but he is super slow. Gets beat wide steadily and takes lots of penalties on guys who are agile. Easily our worst defenceman tonight extremely overrated. Only thing he has going for him is he is young and big.

Completely agree.
He has everything you think you'd want in a defensemen. 6'5'', long reach, hard shot, skates well. But, the problem is, he's brutal defensively, takes a lot of bad penalties and has a hard time getting the puck out of the defensive zone effectively which would explain his team worst -14 last season.
I've looked at him closely and i've come to the conclusion that he's too soft in the defensive zone, lets players get around him too easily and lacks general defensive awareness. He gets hemmed in his own zone constantly and bumbles the puck too often for my own liking.
His offensive game is not bad, he puts up good point totals, but he's not a driver of play for a $5.5M defenceman who struggles mightily in his own zone. I was hoping he'd improve his defensive game over the summer, but looks exactly the same. I wouldn't be sad to see him go and if there's a way to swing a deal for Jacob Trouba, I'm all for it.

Hamilton just needs to play tougher. He seems too soft for his size but he has all of the skills to be an incredible all around player.

He needs to use his size and play a more physical game.

This post is just bang on, Hamilton, does not have that edge to his game, I think Jacob Trouba is kind of this team needs, we have Giordano and Brodie, who take the puck away but are not physical. Hamilton despite his size is not physical, would the Jets trade Trouba to the Flames, I don't know but he would be a very good addition.

CP is turning on Dougie. Start this thread last year and you would have been nailed to the cross ... but eventually his softness just can't be denied. I hope the Flames trade him when his stock rises again.
