Following this weekend’s Cameron Diaz-fronted outing, Season 40 of the long-running sketch series will resume on Dec. 6 with James Franco delivering his third turn as lord of Studio 8H. Nicki Minaj will serve as musical guest, her second time doing so.
On Dec. 13 — just days before The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies hits theaters — Emmy winner Martin Freeman (Sherlock) will make his SNL hosting debut, alongside first-time musical guest Charli XCX.
Then on Dec. 20, multiple Academy Award nominee Amy Adams will return for her second time as host, while One Direction puts in their third appearance as musical guest. (Hey, maybe that one band member can actually sing by now…?)

Thought last night was pretty solid, entertaining if nothing else. Cecily Strong's friend of the bridge troll was fricken hilarious with the mom jeans and malfunctioning lighter.
And nicki minaj's butt is something else.
The post-production in the Star Wars trailer wasnt finished. Three scenes had visible green screens and I'm assuming Luke's walker was supposed to have an effect because of the lightsabre noise.
Saturday Night Live covered Eric Garner and Ferguson in its cold open this weekend, but the show originally had planned to throw a second Ferguson sketch into its rundown. That sketch, “Morning News,” was filmed during dress rehearsal but was cut for time. Fortunately, it’s making the rounds now, as it’s smart, funny, and darkly accurate—maybe too dark for Saturday Night Live, if that’s possible.
They seem uncomfortable....and how will they hold up over time? Will she have hip/back issues when she's older?
This is what I contemplate when I see Nicki Minaj.
I can tell I'm getting older, as I caught the last half hour of SNL on Sat and that was the first time I've ever seen Nicki Minaj's derriere. Those are implants?? She's pretty, but that butt is way too big, especially on that tiny frame. Why would you want that?
As for the episode, it may have been the beer talking (had just got home from a friend's bday so I was nicely lubricated), but my buddy and I were dying at James Franco's "politician who lost the election to a 4 year old" character ranting. Love how Franco had trouble keeping it together at a couple points.
