That has to be the end of Manoah, at least for now. I can’t imagine they run him out there again in 5 days.
I think shut him down for a month. Then give him some AA time

I think it'll be hard to work out his mechanics while losing weight. But I think they should start now and work on it for the next few months with that timing in mind (rather than pushing to roll him back in a month).

They need to IL him and send him to Dunedin to the pitching complex. Get his conditioning up to speed and then (hopefully) dominate a few starts at A ball to get his confidence back up. Then bring him up one level at a time.
Whatever they do though, they cannot trot him out in another MLB game. The Jays are 4-9 in his starts and had to score 10 in the season opener to win that one. They are basically punting his starts now and it's going to cost them a playoff spot.
Bring up Bowden Francis and have a sort of bullpen day. Or claim Plesac off waivers, the guy just got DFAed and he has 0.2fWAR compared to Manoah at -0.8fWAR

Hard to watch Manoah struggle like this. When he's on, he's on. When he's not... Well damn.
Every game matters with the division we're in. It's a tight race so I hope we can figure out what we need to do with not only Manoah, but the team as a whole. Anything short of playoffs is a massive failure on the Jays.

The aces are really the difference in the division . Looks at the Yankees and TB records when Cole and McClanahan pitch . Those two starters have 1 loss combined

Gausman is the Jays ace, and the only reason the team is 6-6 when he starts is because the offence refuses to score runs in his starts, or the BP comes in and shats the bed.

He gave up 7 against Houston and 8 against Boston earlier in the season. You take those 2 starts out and his numbers stack up against anyone.

Gausman is basically a two pitch guy (fastball and splitter) so when it’s not working he tends to get crushed. This is not like Bassitt with his seven pitches or Berrios with his four. If Guasmans splitter isn’t working it’s going to be a short day for him. Kinda like Ray tbh.

Just two. Once against Houston and once against Boston. 7amd 8 earned runs in those two.
Then one with 3 earned
A couple with 2 earned
And the rest with 1 and 0 earned runs
The guy has a sub 3.00 ERA and a 12 K per 9 k rate.

Better numbers than 7-0 Cole too.

About what I figured. Down to the complex in Dunedin.
Hopefully he can figure it out. Unbelievable crash and burn this year from being an all star and 3rd in CY last season.

I know nothing of Francis, is he ok or is he going to get lit right up in the majors? Looking at his stats doesn't reveal a lot.

I also know nothing, but looking at the minor league stats he has high Ks, but also high BBs and HRs. Lots of walks and home runs are a bad combination, so it could be trouble. Like most guys with this skill set, if he throws strikes he should be good as you can live with solo HRs here and there. It's the multi-run homers that tend to sink these guys.

Francis was terrible last year as a starter at AAA, then they made him a reliever and he must have done some tweaking because he had an uptick in velocity and started to be effective. Then he went to the Dominican winter league and dominated there too before coming back to AAA this year and again pitching really well. The last little bit they've been stretching him out again pitching multiple innings and I suspected it was because of Manoah struggling and all the other starter options in AAA not being very good either.
