I've only had Sam's once and enjoyed it. I hit up Red City more because the guy is a hoot. "HEYYYY Buddyyy". I stopped in there late the night my daughter was born and about a year later the guy remembers me and is asking how she's doing.
Cleopatra's is by far the best in town though. All donairs are delicious when intoxicated.

Cool, I will hit up Red City next time, usually meet a buddy once a month for lunch.
I tried Cleopatra's and didn't like it. Right now Sam's is at the top of my list locally, but we will see what Red City gets

So king of donair is on the sidewalk in Kensington. Annoying as hell to walk past the huge line.
The donairs looked regular and boring.

Kim Ahn's (same block as Una, across from Western) is my favorite spot for Vietnamese Subs after the bar.

I've been on a mission to find great Thai food for the past couple of years, and last night I tried Taste of Thailand on 12th Ave and 12th St SW. I have to say, it was awesome, and great value. Prices are significantly lower than a lot of other Thai places nearby and I was very satisfied with the food.

Cluck n Cleaver on 14th St opened today. Sounds like they have some really good southern fried chicken. I look forward to checking it out.

Ok everyone lets mix it up a bit here and change some of the category's. This is mostly an Alberta based forum here and we haven't discussed steakhouses??
What about Greek, Italian, Pizza, Sushi, Seafood etc?
Thoughts? Love some of the place listed thus far

I'm really excited to try this. That said, i've been to a couple events Nicole Gomes catered and I was really disappointed. Was expecting a lot more from what I saw on Master Chef. Was just standard catering.

I have never, ever had a good meal at Smugglers.
Why is it so freaking dark in there.

I had a donair in Halifax from King of Donair and found it disgusting due to the ridiculous amount of sauce. Why would anyone want that much sauce?
The donair and shawarma places we have around here are much better.

I had no idea Stromboli still existed. It used to be our go-to pizza place, when I could eat real pizza. Checked their web page, I see they have moved. That Pizza was awesome.

I've never understood the hype with Viet subs. I choose a Vermicelli bowl everytime.
Asian ingredients between bread? Pass.

If you are still in Halifax, I would highly suggest trying Willy's Pountine for a late night binge.

Being in a sandwich makes everything better.
Crispy fresh french bread, savoury meats, spice, sweet and slightly sour pickled carrot. Delicious balance.
They don't change the world, but they're a fine, fine sandwich.

I've found that if you're at a place with subs AND food - to never bother getting subs there. It is polarizing where the restaurants can do one or the other well but never both.
Give it another try at one of the recommended stand alone sub places. Assorted meats pleases most - hold the cheese if you're a purist.
A new place for Vietnamese food is on centre street north and ~ 64 avenue by the IDA. They've got the typical offerings as well as traditional stuff that my mom makes.
