This is great news! Although I seem to remember, was it Game Plan Sports that has a spotty track record or reputation?

I think that was 777, no?

As far as foreign ownership goes, I like the Liga Mx ties. Strengthening the ties to CONCACAF club competitions is good for the league. The Champions Cup is a huge carrot to dangle for the CPL competitions.

I hope the owners are prepared to lose money.

York United getting new owners is great stuff. The first step in what will need to be a complete overhaul of the club. Next up is to sort out the stadium situation.

Also interesting that this group is willing to relocate themselves to Toronto while their former President Angus McNab was not...

NGL, after watching Welcome to Wrexham, I was slightly hoping Ryan and Rob would step in and own the team. After all, Ryan IS Canadian and a new soccer fan...

3 brothers buying/running the team, still no stadium in sight and no mention of wealthy backers.... initial probably unfair impression is that could be an interesting ride that turns into one of those colorful netflix documentaries a few years from now.

With Kelowna falling quiet and Saskatoon falling apart, and the Wanderers pitch seemingly a looong ways away if at all - it feels like stadium development all around the league is a bit stalled out at the moment, really too bad that more municipalities aren't stepping up like Langley did to fund modest soccer facilities for shared use with the participation numbers for the sport. High school football in the US has better stadiums. Clubs like Cadiz getting involved is nice conceptually but you can't expect them to pay 40 million to build infrastructure that our communities should already have pro soccer or not.

The alternative is York folding. Its a big investment to own a CPL team and I dont get why anyone who has an interest in making money would own a club like York. And we're not at the stage where people want to invest as a vanity project.

Easy. Buy low, sell high, and the GTA can be money.

Not Cavs related, but an interesting discussion from the OneSoccer folks about CPL in Edmonton returning one day.

And it's official. York United have been sold to the Mexican group.
