Pacing was poor. Seemed to struggle with contestants running out of time. Just seemed uncomfortable and a bit frenetic throughout

Was Bill Nye ever an option? I kind of think he might have done a decent job.

I imagine Bill Nye is a super busy guy between CEO of the planetary society, science out reach programs, Light Sail, consulting, etc.

Plus from what I heard on Probably Science podcast, Jeopardy is a super demanding show. So even if they wanted him, I doubt Bill Nye would make himself available.

I wasn’t ever a big Jeopardy follower, but the whole host change thing kind of captivated me so I ended up watching all the different hosts in a YouTube hole of Jeopardy.

I enjoyed Buzzy and Ken Jennings the most, I liked Jennings sign off tributing Alex every time. When this producer dude started I thought he was filling in on an emergency basis. He was decent but I don’t think the best. Probably 4th or 5th on the list.

I don’t think you’d get Bill Nye or Degrasse Tyson to do this. They probably make way more money doing their jobs and mixing in speaking engagements.

Neil had those #metoo accusations against him, not sure where that ended up.

Wasn't a big fan of Joe Buck, felt to much like I was listening to a sports show.

It would be wild if they end up firing him after he has recorded a few weeks worth of shows. Would they air them as recorded with a disclaimer, or would they re-record all the host bits with whoever they get to replace him? I can't imagine they would just scrap the episodes as that would be unfair to the contestants who won those episodes.

Various organizations he works for investigated and then moved on. Not saying that means something happened or not - but that's where it ended up.

I enjoyed him as a change of pace. He was quite funny and had a different style. But not someone I would pick as a the permanent host.

I’m all about accountability but comments made on a podcast almost 10 years ago? His cohosts weren’t offended and have not spoken out against him (yet).

Here’s his awful offensive career ending comments.

Quote:
The Ringer, which reviewed all 41 episodes of the podcast before they were deleted online, reported that Richards at one point asks his female assistant and his female co-host whether they had ever taken nude photos, or in his words, “booby pictures.” In one episode, he calls his co-host a “booth ho.”

Per The Ringer: “Women’s bodies and clothing are recurring subjects for Richards. On a 2013 episode, he says that women ‘dress like a hooker’ on Halloween; on another, he tells a story about a former Price employee who had taken up baking: ‘We said that we were going to have to saw her out of her room because she was going to be so giant that she wouldn’t be able to fit out the door.'”

That’s just not bad at all, honestly. By all accounts the discussions were lighthearted and no one on the podcast was offended by his remarks.

I’m also curious as to the so called “backlash” that the Ringer article keeps referring to. I’m not aware of any backlash at all to his selection. Even this controversy seems 100% media driven, specifically what is clearly an attempt to destroy and discredit him by the angry people at the Ringer. Their article read like sabotage and an intentional slam piece designed solely to generate clicks (shocker from a buzzfeed ripoff site).

But whatever. If they fire him, maybe it means we get Ken Jennings instead.

Can't have fun on podcast (which are uncensored and carte-blanche) where can you have fun? Are people going to one day dig up the 1500 Joe Rogan episodes and scrutinize them?

I now want Bill Burr to host Jeopardy.

Holy crap what a mess.

I'd feel bad for him but he gets to keep his EP job.

How much you wanna bet they name Jennings and then new furor erupts over his history of offensive posts and he gets canned too?

Jeopardy can be known for never having a host. Just a series of named hosts who get fired before they start lol.

If that's the bar for offensive language, I don't know of any person alive who could be so squeaky clean. This is pretty stupid.

I suspect this will have sufficiently concerned them to the point that they must know they can make Jennings the host. Maybe they will just wait until Aaron Rodgers retires and he can take the seat full time.
