Uhm, I don't think so. His QO THIS year was 9, his salary last year was 7m.

I'd be very (pleasantly) surprised if a longterm deal for Weegar came in at only $5.5

Fair bit of risk on the Flames end.

It's going to suck in 5 years in all likelihood. But that's the price you pay to keep a star player around. They aren't going to sign a short contract because someone else will offer them a long term deal in free agency.

I wonder if they make him the captain now and give him the team.

No, his AAV over the contract was 7. His salary in his last year was 9.

It's fine. It's good news. But I expected under 10.
|
At the same time, it's cheaper than Panarin and everyone supposedly wants to go the Rangers.
At the end of the day, Huberdeau has been here 5 minutes, so he was under no obligation to give the Flames any sort of discount

I also don't understand paying him now, before seeing him play and how the season goes. Makes the short term contracts to Kylington and Mangiapane even more puzzling
|
It may be, that Hubs has been a top player for a while now. And they were willing to pay Johnny that much, why not pay a bigger, better player the same amount?
I think this is a win for Calgary.
Imagine if Weeger signs long term, and Kadri signs as well.....

I was hoping for 6.5, to keep them to a total of 17.

So Flames "officially" win the trade now, right?
Since re-signing was the caveat many outside of Calgary had (with little faith that they could do it... ha)

I’d be worried about this contract. Didn’t really have a choice though.

I like it. But Huberdeau should pay for the next meal out with Treliving.

The amount of work that Treliving has done in the past 3 weeks has been unbelievable.
- Gaudreau leaves leaving Brad scrambling.
- Signs what 4 guys?
- Tkachuk Trade
- Signs Kylington
- Signs Mangiapane
- Signs Huberdeau
What a fiend.

Well, clearly not as good as Nurse’s contract.
