I believe so, I think the previous record was Monahan's 7 year deal.

First goal Huby scores at the Saddledome they have GOT to start the goal song off as Go Johnny Go and then cut in with a remix of the Scooby Doo theme.

It's fine. It's good news. But I expected under 10.

Huberdeau is a better player.
Age curve sucks, but odds are pretty low this team is competitive in 2028.

Got him signed quicker than Lindholm, definitely didn't expect that
I wonder if the Flames really go after Kadri now, they've never really been out of it from everything I have read. It wouldn't have made sense to sign Kadri without a Huberdeau extension, but now...

Hubeys kinda everything I wanted Johnny to be. Bigger.
Thankfully he's a better passer too.

Not a bad point. He did poor work on his extension. And IMO Huberdeau is a better player, and his PPG in recent years supports this. But over 10 is rich for paying a guy into his late 30s.
Fair bit of risk on the Flames end.

Was thinking this exact thing. There was a comparable by the same team for the same kind of production at the same position sitting right there. Hard to argue. Treliving is pretty by the book and mathematical when it comes to contracts and likely said “yeah, you got me there”.

I also don't understand paying him now, before seeing him play and how the season goes. Makes the short term contracts to Kylington and Mangiapane even more puzzling

Uhhh.. Do you remember what happened the last time the Flames let a star player walk to UFA

Because that introduces risk that he doesn’t sign at all

The last 3-4 years of this could be ugly, but then again they could very well be in rebuild mode anyway by that point

This is a huge huge signing for the flames. Amazing deal. I will blindly disagree with anyone that says otherwise. It means so much more for the franchise than just what the dollar amount says.
Big win for the City of Calgary after so much negativity about playing here

In the first 4 years of this contract I'm happy with Huberdeau's pay, but on the back end this will become a hindrance. Only elite 34 year olds live up to these contracts. Such is the market, but I really hope after 2 years they look to deal him as he'll eventually cost picks and/or salary to take him on. Anyway, I don't care if I come across a downer but we deep down know that's the truth.
