Yeah I took the Cowboys and the under tonight. I didn't bother with the spreadsheet this year for two reasons:

1. It's a lot of work
2. I'm an idiot

Betting on week 1 where starters had very little time in Exhibition play must be the hardest week to predict.

I took the 1st half under and Gallup under 3.5 receptions and 48.5 yards. Would have lost them all if Gallup hadn't gotten hurt but managed to at least get the yards under win.

I noticed that the Play Alberta website now has online betting available for single game sports which could be great. I might be able to migrate from my current sportsbook to Play Alberta for the easier pay-in/pay-out system.

NFL is just tough to bet on. I do play pools every once in a while and have gotten really close a couple times like 1-2 games wrong only.

The single game betting will be interesting but I can't imagine the odds will be that great.

Yeesh. Why would you do that? Set up instadebit and be done with it. Use something like bet365.

What do you mean? What sort of odds are you looking for?

Sports Select used to be you had to bet on 3 games minimum and it was still tough to pick 3 winners even if you picked the favorites and then you wouldn't even win that much. You almost have to pick the middle of the pack or underdogs vs the clear favorite just because the odds and payouts were a lot better.

So I'm thinking betting on single games will have some slant towards the house and may not be even worth doing. We'll see I guess. It just seems like a big leap from having to pick 3 games and now being able to bet on just one. But they do it in other places and maybe it gets more people betting.

Sportselect is terrible because you have to get three games right to win anything, and not only does the team have to win, they have to win by more than 3 points. Unless you want to have some fun throwing $5 at trying to pick 3-4 tie games or enter pools it's not worth the effort.

Betting single games moneyline, the payouts are a bit less because a 1 point win still counts, and you only need to get that game right.

Right now you can get the Browns +6.5 on play Alberta at 1.76 to 1, on play Alberta...on Sportselect it's 1.70 to 1 and you need to get two other games correct. Nobody should every play Spread on Sportselect. The more advanced sites out there will have lines move and options to buy points. At this minute I would rather take the -1.76:1 on Cleveland +6.5 than get 1.91:1 for Cleveland +5.5 that bet 365 is offering.

I wouldn’t play sport select or play Alberta to be honest

I’ve got the browns +3 at 2.2 on bet365. Might even dabble on the moneyline.

I used it today to make a couple bets as they had a promo for a free $20 bet when you deposit $10. Put the $20 on Pit and now I have some house money for the next week. Interestingly, Play Alberta already has odds up for next week. Could be good or bad to get in on some early favourable odds

Up 15 units on the weekend. Not too bad.

Have 1 more bet still alive. Need Drake to get a TD for the Raiders tonight!

At this point it's tempting to bet on the Dogs to cover.

Last week without any thinking that strategy would have gone 11-5. Granted the Broncos and Rams are two games I would not have liked, but it got other results that I likely would have avoided. It would have been 12-4 when the 49'ers were a 8.5 favorite over the Lions. Books will adjust, but it's a trend that I'll watch.

So I'll write it down now so that I can be held accountable to it this week.

Following this treand I would have these picks. Bold picks are picks that I don't like, but trust the trend...they likely end up being the ones that are most correct.

Home Dogs
Indianapolis +4
Miami +3.5
New York Jets +6
Philly+3
Carolina+3.5
Jacksonville +6
Baltimore +3.5

Road Dogs
New York G +3.5
Cincinnati +2.5
Houston +12.5
Las Vegas +5.5
Minnesota +3.5
Atlanta +12
Dallas +3.5
Tennessee +5.5
Detroit +11

Agreed on bears, but I've been terrible on the first 17 games this year.

Also, sports select is government sanctioned theft. It would be the equivalent of the government of Alberta running a bank and charging the Criminal rate of interest.
