Buying a new monitor

So I'm in the market for a new PC monitor. Something relatively large, and high quality. 27" widescreen minimum, and preferably with resolution of at least 1920*1280

Now Dell has an awesome deal on their website for just such a monitor:

And I was about to purchase this fine device. Through my employer, I can get an additional discount, but only if I place an order by phone.

Well, I was terribly upset -- though not surprised -- to find my phone call handled by Indians. At first it was an Indian operator whose purpose was only to transfer my call to the correct department. She got the department right, and I was hoping -- dare I say, praying -- that I'd speak with a Canadian or American rep.

Nope, another Indian.

I hung up. Dell just lost a sale.

Any ideas on where else I could purchase such a monitor?

Addendum: Had a bright idea and tried calling the sales number again, but connecting to a French speaking rep instead. Now my French is horrible, but I know enough to navigate the menus and explain to the rep on the other end that I do not speak French and asked if she spoke english.

Unfortunately for $100 more than the Dell sale.

Not a lot of selection at the 27" IPS monitor level. Surprisingly quite a few at the 30" level if you are looking to go that high.

From what I understand, the OP was perfectly happy to deal with Dell until it involved Indians.

To get the best price on electronics usually search the item on www.shopbot.ca or www.pricebat.ca. Sometimes you get lucky and find a good sale.

Yeah, it sounds racist or it could be that he doesn't want to deal with a company that outsources jobs, so I ignored his reasoning.

Those search engines are great to use even when you think you already have a good deal.

I wonder if the OP realizes that the monitor he covets is probably, are you sitting down? built by the Chinese, gulp. Every major PC manufacturer just lost his sale, what a shame.

Most probably built by LG of South Korea as they are the makers of IPS panels.

Settled on an alternative.

Samsung P27750H. 27" widescreen 1080p monitor.

Manufactured in Mexico, cables made in China, purchased from Memory Express.

I don't mind if a company outsources its manufacturing process, but I'll be damned if I deal with an offshored customer service rep I cannot understand.
