CPU Fan has failed, need help

Hey Guys, this morning when i went to turn on my other computer, that msg appeared and it automatically shut down to prevent over heating.

My question is, which fan is that? Is it easily replaceable? And anything else?

Depends on many things, what model computer?

The fan and heatsink sometimes are a custom unit that work together, so you'd have to replace both, which can be challenging for someone not used to that stuff.

If it's a standard 80mm or 120mm fan, then you can probably just unplug and remove the existing fan from the heatsink and put on a new one.

Assuming it's the fan that's the problem, sometimes I've seen the whole heatsink retention assembly come apart or break, meaning the heatsink isn't even touching the CPU anymore.

Open up your case and see what fan isn't moving. It's probably covered in boatloads of Dakotas dog hair or something.

Aren't you supposed to be far away?
