Boy that was good TV. Got more entertainment from that than most big box office movies the past year.

The only thing I didn't like about that episode was the long claw scene. John knew he needed the blade to fight white walkers. Not the time to be giving it away. If he wanted to give it to a Morment he could have gave it to the little bear. The scene was forced and pointless.
Dragons versus zombies, now that was the awesomeness that I've been waiting seven years for.

I'm guessing that waiting for Dany and her dragons was the Night Kings plan the whole time? Otherwise why encircle them and just wait?
The guy's been playing the long con game all along.

I think it was quick closure. Sure they could have had a Jorah turn to Jon and say "oh noticed you have my sword" Jon says "yes I do" Jorah replies "your the right guy to have it" /scene
That would have been bad too. I think they wanted to just close the loop and move on.

I thought it was interesting that the dragon is a whitewalker and not a wight. Means you need dragon glass or Valerian steel to kill it.
I'm hoping for the Cleagane bowl next week.

What was with the succession talks? I don't remember them going on about that before, did I just forget it?

What gave you that impression? All the wights have blue eyes as well.

The wights seem to have blue eyes, but I think all their eyes are a kind of cloudy, pale blue instead of the bright blue and clear pupils of the white walkers. They are more similar to the eyes of animals being warged into, aren't they?
Also, speaking of eyes, did anyone else notice how the eyes on the wolf hilt of longclaw appear to open when Jon comes back to the surface from under the ice? Don't know what the significance of that is.

I think you are right. The more I think about it, and I'll have to go back and look, but did they not have three ice spears? Would show that the Night King knows a lot of what is going on in the realm.

This Week’s Game of Thrones Featured Violence On Many Sides, On Many Sides
http://www.slate.com/blogs/browbeat/...any_sides.html
Another Update, Aug. 21, 2017:I will tell you something. I watched Sunday night’s episode closely—much more closely than you people watched it. And you have a group on one side that was bad, and you had a group on the other side that was also very violent. And nobody wants to say that, but I’ll say it right now. The Night King’s undead army came charging by the thousands, tearing any living thing they could get their decaying hands on into tiny, bloody scraps before resurrecting them into a new life of eternal service to the forces of evil. And it was a horrible thing to watch. But there is another side to this. You also had a motley band of charming rogues travelling north of the wall on an extraordinary rendition mission without a permit, and they were very, very violent. I think there’s blame on both sides.

I was thinking: "Leave those idiots to die and scorch the hell out of the Night King dammit!"

Wouldn't John Snow be the heir to the IronThrone, not Dany? I would assume that once people realize he isn't Ned Starks Bastard and is actually a Targaryan, he would take over the Iron Throne with his aunt (wife?) Daeneryus at his side.
Or did I misunderstand that relationship and the rightful heir thing?

Next episode, Jon and Dany will find they're related. Everyone except for Cersei and Jamie will be disgusted.
The two incest couples immediately form a bond. All past rivalries are put aside and incest-love wins in the end.

Yes, Gilly confirmed that Rhaegar had an annulment and secret marriage the previous episode. That information made Jon the 'rightful' king.
Prior to that, it was speculation, but there was always the possibility he was just a bastard, which would have given him no claim (although, it always just depends on who's support he has).
